Quote from: "Charlie Chops 1940"Didja notice how he casually reached up with his hand at speed to flick a little dab of salt or something off his visor?Charlie

Don't know if the different shots are in chronological order or not but it looks like he's flipping the visor down.  "Rock Solid" is right!  Wonder what his heart rate was?

Sure are a lot of cool camera angles.

Friday, eastbound on the Indiana Tollway the first three service areas (BP, I think) were $3.79 while the last two (Mobil) were $4.09!!!!

Chicago area is all over the place but the lowest is $3.85 today.  It's $3.56 an hour or so south of here.

McMaster has been amazing the past couple of years.  If I order before 9:00am it gets here between noon and six the SAME day.  And this is not for large orders either.  Last week it was two boxes (100ct) of stainless screws and two boxes (100ct) of white plastic anchors.

I remember seeing that catalog on my Dad's bench back in early 50's.

Jack, so sorry to hear of your injury.  Reading through the thread has been an education.  It had the potential to be so much worse.

You'll be back on the road in no time, Mr. Lucky!

Hi, I'm Larry and I haven't posted for a while.

I was just "checking-in" this morning, something I have done fairly infrequently for the last couple of years, and this thread caught my eye immediately.  I was shaken and soon realized I was part of the reason and I'm sorry.

I've always thought of this site as a family and I've considered myself a "friend of the family".  I don't possess the knowledge and skill that most of you do but I sure appreciate your collective generosity and spirit of sharing.  It's really an amazing place.

In reading this thread (mostly the short posts - I'll go back to the longer ones soon) I was struck by a couple of thoughts.  I think the economy has had an effect as well as the "explosion" of the Facebook-type sites which siphon-off the spare time of the more social members.

Our family business is fighting for survival and that takes a lot of my time. The Chicago BrushMasters has also claimed more once-spare time.  I remarried last year and that has required additional obligations as well.

As I scanned this thread I saw so many folks that I have met personally because of the RRT and their posts brought me up to date on things I've missed.  Especially glad to see a post from Purple Pickup (get well soon, George).  Also saw a mention of Debb (I'm going to e-mail her today), Glo and I visited them in the spring and she and Rob have been very active with their motorcycle club.

As far as the cars go, I've retitled the roadster in Glo's name so she is now an official "hot rod chick" and the coupe's currently at my stepson's shop in Central Illinois getting a long list of modifications, additions and safety issues addressed....long story.

More later...

Spotted this too....very cool!!!

Just what are "unbelievable odors"?

Shouldn't that read "aromas"?  It's always smelled really, really good around the trailer. :D

Rodder's Roundtable / hotrodder nets high honor
July 27, 2009, 12:02:33 PM
CONGRATULATIONS, DON!!!!

A well-deserved honor.

I'll never forget meeting Don and his family in 2007, starting at Sum's in Blanding and continuing through to Bonneville.  What a truly wonderful group.  Highlights:  hiking to the ruins, driving to unparalleled scenic overlooks, amazing meals on the salt and cooling spritzes from the grandkids in the pits.  Boy do they know how to have fun!!!

Thanks so much for posting the link, Jim.

CONGRATULATIONS, HOOLEY!!!!!

Huge thumbs-up to all involved, what an incredible trip you guys have had this year !!

Thanks Charlie for keepin' us informed and glad you're havin' fun with the track roadster.  Have a safe trip home.

Jim, I'm sorry you didn't make it either but I think there are a lot more records in Hooley's future and I hope to see one in person.  No way are you an unlucky charm.

Sum, haven't heard from you about about the PVC sheets, offer still stands.  Wish I had been with you and Charlie on the hikes.
