Rodder's Roundtable / Just sayin thanks

Yes thanks to both Franks. And I feel like I had a celebrity in my garage for a night and got his autograph too,  hanging over the door.

Rodder's Roundtable / seat comfort
May 01, 2014, 06:28:27 AM
My daily is a 71 F100 short box, 5.0 injected, computer, AOD.  Good A/C and fun to drive, but it is crippling me. I am not overly tall (5'11") but cramped legs and too close to the steering wheel.   Thought about cutting away some of the seat back springs in the stock bench but also considered a later model where the seat back looks thinner. Still have the stock tank behind the seat, but it doesn't take up much room,  it is the thickness of the seat back.  Any suggestions on a late model that might fit OK ?  A Ranger would not be wide enough would it ??  Dodge Dakota ?

Rodder's Roundtable / Galaxie front clip question

Just to make your decisions tougher,  here in AZ  we still have lots of those in the yards and Volare or Cordobas for the T bar suspensions. There are always guys going back and forth across the country and I have family driving from AZ  to Lake Simcoe in May, they could bring whatever, lots of room.

Rodder's Roundtable / Glen's new shop build thread

Wow I am jealous, how does he do that so fast?   In 6 weeks Glen accomplished what took me 18 months and my wife is laughing about it.  Looks good Glen.  Compressed air lines ?

I'm in a county island with lots of other rodders, we all have an acre and trade tools and never a complaint. Near 101 and Elliot to Warner. Prices are reasonable now and the house next door is available but not listed.

Rodder's Roundtable / headlights, big or small ?
February 11, 2013, 02:09:13 AM
Still working on getting those headlights mounted, but need the inner fenders for the connector to the headlights and so must fix them.  Took me 4 hrs to make this, wife can't decide if I'm a perfectionist or just anal.

Rodder's Roundtable / coolant corrosion
December 30, 2012, 04:04:29 PM
I have a '95 LT1 case iron engine, walker brass rad and lots of aluminum on the front of the engine. Perfect storm for dissimilar metal corrosion.  It has sat for several months with just water in it as I work on wiring and headlites and so I drained it. Very yucky black green goo. I flushed with the garden hose but still see gobs of semi solid white corrosion in around the thermostat housing. Any suggestions on flushing and what to put in for coolant.  The premixed or straight antifreeze...and are they all the same ?

Looks familiar  and looks good. Mine has been done for some 10 yrs or so and actually has 2 rust spots that should be fixed.  I only have one consol, original and I've never installed it,  just so brittle that I keep it on the shelf and just look at it.  I have carpet over the hump.  I see you have an alum rad,  good thinking, I have the original 4 core and it barely keeps itself cool in AZ weather.  I have factory a/c but never bothered to hook it up.  No way it would cool itself.  Have fun with it and post more pics.

Welcome. I too have a 66 velle, although all original 396 SS.  Have  few extra bits and pieces left over if you are stuck for something. Lots of good advice here on the RRT  and easy going too.

Rodder's Roundtable / Muncie 4 speed
March 06, 2012, 09:28:58 PM
Wow, have not heard of Marcel,  I'll google it.  Still suspicious as to why today and yesterday it is OK,  not quite silky smooth but not objectionable. All I did was wash everthing down clean.  Bottom of engine was clean and just orange paint. I did look at the clutch springs and they all appeared normal.  And this is the 9th or 10th clutch that I've put in it of various makes, always diaphram type.   The LUK in it now still had some of the silkscreen marking on it....very few miles.  Still need the stamped steel cover plate and I doubt if they are repo yet.
