Quote from: "WZ JUNK"Thanks for posting the picture.  It was a fun weekend.  I continue to work the bugs out of the car.  We plan to drive the Arkansas Hot Rod 100 tomorrow.  People keep asking when I will finish the paint.  I tell them I am having trouble finding more of the zinc oxide primer to do the rest of the car.  They look at me funny but they were looking at me funny anyway.

Thanks again.

John

Looks good brother.

We've only been there once so motel information would be a big help. I can't remember the name of the place we stayed at last time. Sam

Quote from: "enjenjo"I am leaving for the Nats thursday morning.

Wz said that you might be going and if so. you would be taking your Marlin. Will you be parking in the grass along the road to the swapmeet as you have in the past? I will be driving a root-beer and white 2-tone 58 Chevrolet Biscayne . Sam

I may be there with 348tripower, or I may be near the gate with Carps. I have your cell number unless it has changed.

Frank, I still have the same cell #. I'll look for you guys. My 58' is a root-beer and white mor-door with black rims and whitewalls. It will be posted with "For Sale" signs.

Quote from: "Charlie Chops 1940"Mo, I had thought about swinging down to Louisville for a day but will pass for more time on the way to Speed Week. George and I will be passing through Rolla late Thursday or early Friday.

You guys all have a good time.

Charlie

Charlie, hope you and George have a safe and enjoyable trip. Glad you can help Hooley out.  Brother is looking forward to your visit. Like others, I was very disappointed with the NSRA for a couple of years. I'm getting over it. Actually, I trying not to end up old and * at everything. I haven't been to Louisville since they opened up the years. I'm looking forward to it. I really enjoyed Kalamazoo and hope to get up there again. A couple years ago, my wife and I did the South rim of the Grand Canyon in early October and we spent a couple days on the plaza in Old Santa Fe. We haven't done the North Rim yet. Be Safe

Quote from: "39deluxe"I wish I could have made it. There were just too many things in the way this weekend.

Tom

We really had a good time. It was nice to see everyone again and to meet some new folks. The facility is really nice as well-and a great swapmeet. After 20 years on the road, I used the rod repair shop for the first time. Those guys really helped us out. We did better on the MPG coming home but still only had a best of 12.5 mpg. I look forward to coming back to KZOO. Sam

Charlie, it was good to talk to you. Glad you guys made it home o.k. You came through here on the right day. We had hard rain and cool here all day today. You dodged the bullet. Look forward to seeing you this summer. Sam

Glad you made it home ok Bob. Sunday was actually pretty nice. We watched some of the eliminations and pulled out around 12:30. We flat-towed the HEAP. We made it to Rolla around 7:30. Even though the weather was bad Friday night and Saturday morning, we still had 3 nights of Garage Crawls. We met some new folks and made some new friends. As always we enjoyed the comaraderie with all of you that attended. All-in-all, a * fine weekend. Sam

We will be leaving Rolla 7 ish on Thursday morning. We should get in to the registration between 1:00-2:00. Looking forward to seeing all of you. We may flat-tow the HEAP or I may drive it. I don't know if my butt can hold up for the 350 miles though. Have a safe trip everyone. As Charlie says, we will plan on being along the road to the swapmeet. Sam

Rodder's Roundtable / Junk Brothers on Ice
January 21, 2007, 11:52:29 AM
Just talked to Wz. We both dodged the bullet on the storm that went through late yesterday and last night. We both got about 1" of snow and it stayed warm. John says it's easier to get around now. He says the tree trimming(utility)crews have been there so the power crews should be there before too much longer. He says a home burned there after the power was restored. He will wait a while after power is restored before he goes on-line. He wants to ensure that any power surges or fluctuations have passed and just wants to be sure that everything is ok. It's really pretty here but we are about tired of pretty. For Katie and I it has made for some nice nights in the hot tub. You should be hearing from brother in another day or so. Sam

The cold has really settled in now. Tonight should be the worst. We are predicted to reach -2. I haven't been able to reach brother today. His cell phone has been fading out at times. Thanks for all of your good wishes. I feel guilty because I still have electricity but it continues to flicker at times. It could go at any time. It's really sad to see the huge trees down. We will appreciate Spring when it arrives. Sam

Evening Everyone. If you've been watching the nightly news and/or the Weather channel you've probably been hearing about the Winter Blitz along the I-44 corridor. Life is not pleasant here. I know brother (Wz-Junk) routinely posts here so thought I would would give you an update. John has been without electricity since last Friday afternoon. In anticipation of the storm he purchased a generator for basic needs. They were hit hard an ended up with a couple of inches of ice on everything. Trees are down everywhere and the roads are impassible. I live in Rolla, about 180 miles east of Wz and our area looks like a battle zone with trees and limbs down in every direction. It is an eery feeling to stand outside at night and hear the crashes of the limbs and trees in the woods. We have had periods without electricity but many in my area have been out for long periods of time. We weren't hit as hard as Wz.  There is not a generator or portable heater to be found and there are long lines when kerosine is available. I talk with Wz a couple of times each day via cell phone. Today he and a neighbor pulled his generator by sled to the neighborhood well. They were able to power the well long enough for neighbors to obtain water for drinking, flushing toilets, etc. He said he made some makeshift snow shoes by screwing drywall screws through the soles of some old track shoes. We haven't heard from Hoolie(#974). He lives close to Tulsa which was hit very hard. Anyway, everyone is fine and thought you might like to know why Wz hadn't been posting as of late. He didn't mention having had the roadster out. We look forward to seeing many of you in the Summer. Sam
