Rodder's Roundtable / Vacuum port for a brake booster
January 22, 2008, 09:44:01 PM
I've got a 3 deuce Offy intake for my nailhead but I need some advice on where to tap into it for a 3/8 port for a brake booster
On top is out of the question (no room at all)
For those that don't know it's open under the intake with a valley pan
I could drill into the back or underneath
Just wondering if I drill into the bottom would I end up with fuel in the line
(I think so)
I also need a port for a pcv so does anyone know of a 2 port vacuum tee with 3/8 nipples on them
Thanks
Jeff

Jeff

Ya Jeff.. what I did was pull one wire then added 2 smaller wires for the parking lights and turn signals.. Worked great.. I used #18 wire for that. It was a little tough getting it all thru the loom but i just took my time and it finally made it.. I had to shorten em a bunch but it all worked and looks sweet.. Ill have to get a pic for you. I had to make a spacer for the model a headlight bucket as the looms have a 1/2 inch thread on em and the bucket has an .812 hole in it. I just made 2 spacers .800 diamater from aluminum with 1/2 inch holes in em and that took the movement or possible movement outta the conector. I did saw off the end on the bucket where the stock a loom hooks on. Also using the stock position i had to turn the halogen kit so the turn signal is on the top instead of the bottom.. Other than that were good to go..
Dave

ordered a set today
nice people to deal with ,very impressed.

here goes

what I'm having problems with is that I had to remove the centre section of the x-member for trans clearance and now I'm wondering what the best way to proceed on
1-how to tie the x-member back together properly
2-how to build a drop out cross member for the trans mount, if you look at the picture closely you can see the pad for the trans mount on th trans housing but I need to build a mount on the frame somehow that is strong and also removable
Thanks

Rodder's Roundtable / help with my frame
December 30, 2007, 02:29:18 PM
This is the problem I have with putting a nailhead and a Tremec 5 speed in my A sedan
I've had to notch out the x member to make room for the rear of the trans
So what would be the best way to get the strength back into the x-member while still having clearance
Thanks

I have a 0-5 inch micrometer that my grandfather used when he was a mechanic
That would have been in the late 30's
still as good as new

Quote from: "river1"bringing back an old one with an update

jeff thru email told me what to say to the dealer to get it fix at dealer expense. dealer somewhat surprised by my knowing what to say but they fixed it (back in jan) for free.

well this week (last week of dec) i get a recall letter, seems they finally realized they had a common problem and will fix it for free or refund $ if you paid to get it fixed :D  :D

thanks again jeff/oiler

later jim

you owe me a margarita
