So now I can go and straighten the smoothie ones I made and warped when I welded them .

So that's what all of those big clamps and miscellaneous odds and ends of left over stuff is good for?!  Who'd  a thunk it?    8)

I made a die to straighten the bend on the outside of the running board. I have about 1/2 of it done. Then it started raining again.

I always like it when there's a pile of vises grips. :) In this months Street Scene, there is a pic of Ray Lunds handbuilt roadster. He told me that one day he had his helper put up all the vise grips and count them. 180. I need more. :) Good progress, Frank.

I don't know how many I have. A couple years ago I went to a garage sale that had a bushel basket full of them. I asked how much, he told me $5 because they were all broken. Most of them just needed a new return spring, and I had just bought some new return springs on Ebay. A couple I had to weld up the ends and reprofile them. Begore that I already had a bunch.

Fab 32 on the HAMB, he has since passed away, was the king of Vicegrips, he had hundreds of them.

Somebody at the Zoo gave me a cold   I am about over it now. So I got back on the 46.

I started out making a panel to hook all the fuse blocks, relays, and terminal strips to. Sanded and painted it. Pictures when I get a little further along.

The right running board is about done, I had to use some heat to do the last of the straightening, just enough to make the metal stay where I wanted it. Not even a good blue. I have to replace a brace under the board, Just a hat section about 31" long. So I bought some weld through primer. $29.95 for a 14 oz spray can.  I think I will look for another brand.

Then I started on the left running board. You know, "the good one", Hah! Lots more rust in this one, the back flange to fit the rear fender will need to be replaced, there are several holes cut in it by a torch when it was removed, the last inch of the side flange on the rear has been cut off for some reason, one of the hold down brackets was smashed, and some one tried to straighten it, I think with a pick axe. I pounded on it for a while today, made some progress but there is still a lot of work to do. There will be some shrinking to do on this one.

That board was a little gnawed up too, huh? Looks like something IDJ would get, and the fixes seem mighty good so far to me. Whack that back edge where it turns down and make one of my favorite solve-all flange strips if you have a shrinker.  :D

I worked some on the fuse block panel, labeled all the connections. Spent some time patching holes in the left running board, and pounding on it some more. I am about ready to send it to IDJ! The more holes I fix, the more I find. Here are some pics of the fuse panel. Most of the wires were too short, so by connecting them at the panel, I don't have splices all over the place.

What size welding wire you using?

Nice and compact, not to be confused with my using factory harnesses. :)

I have been working on wiring this week so far. I have all the wires from front and rear run up to the top outside of the firewall. Now I just have to run them inside and connect them to the fuse panel.

More wiring. I am trying not to forget any thing. I am having trouble figuring out the wiring on this fuse block.. I will have to pull it off the panel and trace them out visually.

Frank,

I thought I was the only one anymore who does terminal strips on the fuse panel board. It sure simplifies connections and later rework if necessary.
