Today I needed to make a bracket for the rear brake hose at the frame. The end of the hose had a 5/8" hex where it fits in the bracket. So I ground one side of a 16mm nut flat, drilled a hole in the bracket to fit the bolt, and ran another nut up tight on the other side, lining up both hexes.  I then put it in the press with one nut in a socket, and pushed the flat nut through the bracket. I then had a hex hole, a little dressing with a sander, and it was ready to use.

I installed the fuel tank today, the brackets finally came back from powder coating. The straps are made from stainless steel, then powder coated, they will never rust. Every thing fit as designed without modification for a change.

I have most of the center cross member welded up, so I installed it in the car, and tacked the mounting brackets, and the trans mount into place.I bolted to booster up to the cross member, the drive shaft is a bit close, so I am going to make a shield, and a drive shaft loop, so a problem with the shaft doesn't take out the brakes.

I spent some time this evening running the rear brake lines, and started on the fuel lines. I am installing an EFI fuel filter back by the tank. I have done this on several cars, and it seems to work well, and they are big enough to last a while.

I installed the carburetor, and ran the line for the choke stove to the front header. I still have to install the fuel line from the fuel pump to the carburetor.

Does the owner come over and get excited when he sees progress? :)

He has not been here in a while, but I send him a ton of pictures. The last time he was here, I was still taking it apart.

Pulled all the recently made parts, finished welding them, sandblasted them, now they are ready to powder coat.

I have the left exhaust pipe made front to rear. Right one done to the muffler. Both need some welding, but I have the shape right, and every thing clears.

I received the last parts I needed to assemble the front axle, so I'll start on that next.

I installed the spindles today. I also installed the caliper brackets after running to the county seat for the right bolts. Tie rod is in too, still needs to have the toe in set.

I started on the left engine splash pan. It has to be modified to clear two exhaust pipes now. The owner of the truck has mentioned them several times, so I know he really wants them.

Still waiting on the paint from Eastwood to paint the exhaust.

County seat...  how many younguns know their that from their own? Seat.

Everything you've shown exhibits spectacular attention to detail. Don't get bashful, we gotta inspect it all.

I'm with the owner guy- six banger exhaust gotta be just like you like it. Will he want the old tacked together glasspacks thing?  :D

Okay, here are some pictures. I finished assembling the front end today, only to discover that I had the caliper brackets on the wrong sides   So now I have to tear it all apart, and do it over.

I still have not modified the right tail pipe to fit, it shouldn't take long, it's just getting around to it.

I have the splash pan done. It still has some pin holes in it, but most of it won't show, and should serve the purpose.

The owner called today, he decided he wants AC in it now. I'm glad he said so before I got too far along. I will have to move the alternator, but other than that it should be no problem.

The owner stopped by today. He is very happy with the truck and the progress. He took a bunch of pictures, and oohed and ah-ed over the progress. He's happy, so I am too.

I have finished welding the exhaust system, I painted it today. One of the new wheels came in, I mounted it on the hub and checked for clearance, every thing clears great, so I can order the other three.

Since there will be air conditioning on it, I changed the water pump so I could get a more favorable pulley ratio.  I also started fabricating a compressor bracket, I have the bottom bracket figured out, just have to come up with an adjustment arm.

I am still waiting on the last batch of powder coating to come back

That truck will be so good. Combining the best with the old and not loosing the character.

Powder coating came back, so I assembled those parts. I have the AC compressor mounted, changed the water pump to one that is not overdriven so much. Exhaust is welded, painted, hangers installed, started assembling one side today before I went to the dentist.
