Quote from: "junkyardjeff"I could see a cut off at 1970 but not 1980.

i agree
there aren't a lot of 70's vehicles that i'd consider "worthy" of show.
there are a few but not enough to expand the year cut off to include them.

Shame shame shame it's the National Street Rod Association not the National Bring Whatever You have Association. I like the later model cars but if I choose to go to a rod event that's what I want to see.
Louisville for me is the Premier rod event and if it does happen in 2010 I won't be going I'll just go elsewhere.
Next years trip will be Speedweek and whatever else I can find on the calender at the time.
Hot Aug Nights was good last year with rods and late model cars. The good thing about it is all the different attractions and venues whereas Louisville is a static display all in the one spot. Late model cars just wouldn't be right.
I hope they have a rethink because I dearly want to go again next year.
Very sad :(
I maybe from down under but I know which way is up.
Oh hell there goes another head rush.

We must all send email complaints to NSRA ,  keep the email message clean and on point.

I'd be glad to send NSRA a nice nastygram...but I can't find an e-mail address for them.

To the world you\'re just one person; but to one person, you might be the world.

The NSRA website http://nsra-usa.com/index.php/site/membership_address_change/ change of address pages sends the form in an email to nsra@comcast.net.

Guess you could try that one.

another avenue to voice your displeasure would be through the "official" sponsors

mention something to the effect that you don't like what the NSRA is doing and by sponsoring them they must agree. then how you don't want to do business with anyone who feels the way they do.

ps kinda glad i haven't got around to renewing my membership

Who is going to print up the " I was at the last street rod nationals" T-shirts?

I would buy one and wear it at Louisville this year.

As many of you have already said it, I go to NSRA shows because I want to see pre 49 cars. Don't get me wrong, I also own a 61 Chevy and two tri 5 chevies, but there are other shows for them.

I'm what you could call a young gun at the age of 26. I would assume my generation, the next younger and the next older are the ones they are targeting with this "family involvement." Personally if they were so worried, they should be looking into more ways to encourage us to get into street rodding in its real deffinition.

I'm a member of both Goodguys and NSRA and was looking to purchase a lifetime membership this year for NSRA. I live 5hrs from Louisville(NSRA), 3hrs from Kzoo(NSRA) and just 2 hrs from Columbus (GG). With the year change I no longer find the need to drive longer than 2hrs to see the same thing. The money I would normally spend on the NSRA membership, gas to those events and room/food for that weekend will just have to go to my cars now.

I actually sold my 52 F1 and started building a 48 F1 just to be eligible. This is deffinately something to kill the motivation to finish it. Ironically I drive a 1980 Chevy C10 pickup to work everyday. If I really wanted to drive it to a show, I wouldn't waste my time and gas on the 10hr trek. I'd just drive it 10mins up the road to quaker steak and lube on sunday night to park with everyone else's newer stuff...

Not to bring up the past, but isn't this why they used to have the Van/Truck, and Street Machine Divisions?
Do you need a tetanus shot to ride in that thing?

I sent NSRA an email politely disagreeing with their policy change. I hope everyone that reads this thread does the same. I, for one, will have to  reconsider renewing my NSRA membership next year.

I sent them an email a few nights back disagreeing with the change. I'm just waiting on their standard reply
Airfares are really cheap at the moment,I'm trying to talk myself into coming over this year for the last one as we know it and making that the last one I will attend.
Louisiville....hmmm.... finishes on the same day speed week starts.
Gee it's tempting. :)

A friend of mine had an idea: This year at Louisville, we should wear black armbands with the starting date of the NSRA and the ending date.
A street rod is a vehicle made before 1949 that is modified with modern stuff: bigger motors; newer trans; updated suspension, front & rear; a/c.
Following is a street rod plus definition: No known definition because it changes.

That's a GREAT idea!  I'm going to L'ville this year but will certainly wear one at Kzoo.

I meant to say I'm NOT going to L'ville this year but will wear one in Kzoo.  I too will be attending Speed Week in B'ville again.
