Funny how valuable you become when you leave a job. A friend of mine retired from a manufacturing shop where he worked for about 40 years, they begged him to come back temporarily the next summer. He named a price and they didn't flinch, he worked about three months, in the Winter. After I left my job they called me six years later and wanted me to go to China and try to straighten out a shop they couldn't. I went, made a lot of money and got the trip of a lifetime! 😄

Rainy here today off and on . Had to install an axle seal . got it done and took the rear rims in to paint them . truck is back on 4 wheels and they are all the same colour. Need to put on a new brake line to ds front . Too nasty to do in the driveway today.

I needed to change the circuit breaker box in the shop, I needed more circuits. The electrician started at 11 am, left at 2pm. done! It would have taken me a week to do it.

I rarely do commission pieces, but this sounded interesting. All finished except the lettering on the front plate and the doors. The client picked the colors, for his wife, I wasn't sure they would work but I like them now. It's an anniversary gift for his wife, she drives semis. It's acrylic on hardboard, 20" X 16"

NICE !!  ....I zoomed in on your painting and showed  it to my wife.  ...She thought it was a photo of a real truck!

I've also enjoyed your other paintings which you shared with us.  ...Keep up the good work!

I took a second four bolt main SBC block to the machine shop, the first had the main journal pounded out too far. I had taken a two bolt block out there a while back, it is good and they will credit me some money for that block toward the work on the four bolt block. I guess the blocks are getting harder to find, I have a friend that has parts to build some SBC engines, just needs blocks. Keeping my fingers crossed that this second block is good.

I see that Hot Rod Drag Week and the Hot Rod Power Tour are both canceled.  I had already decided not to participate in the Hot Rod Drag Week but I would like to have watched them on the computer. The summer of discontent.

I discovered a source for a product that may solve my brake problem.  It is a copper conical washer that fits between a double flare and the connector.  It takes up the space left from a bad flare or a bad connection.  In my case I found two AN fittings that were poorly made.  Tomorrow morning I will instal them and we will see what happens.

Yard work for half the day. I replaced the new light switch in the 78 with an old unit I had. The shaft kept pulling out of the switch. The clearance is too large for it to stay latched into position. I'm glad I save some of this old stuff. :)

Sunday: Front  yard work this morning before it is 175*F ..

Saturday I did a thing with my bolt bin shelves.  I've had these shelves since the early 1980s. I set them on 2 HF wheel dollys.. That puts 8 wheels under the heavy bins.

I bolted the sides and corners of the 3 sections of the  bolt bins together with aluminum. The dollys have plywood glued and screwed on them to create a 1 piece unit.

I still need to bolt the bins to the dollys.. likely use some angle metal on the ends from the bins to the wood of the dolly

It rolls "ok" .. the wheels are 2.5 inches diameter. Kinda need to be 4 inch diameter , I think.

Since we are moving in early 2021 , I wanted this on wheels to ease the move a little bit.

I've spent the day cleaning dirt out of the shop. I do that after every project. It's never clean, just cleaner. :)
