Quote from: "phat46"I did a couple versions of this painting, I like this one best.
Nice! Reminds me of a scene from a Bat Man movie or Ron Crumb art.

Quote from: "WZ JUNK"Hooley brought me a new wall hanger for the shop.
That's a pretty special wall hanger there John  :|

I agree with George, that is a special wall hanging. Nice to remember the car.

Interesting tidbit from a coworker today...

Just bought two Model A chassis. Built a canoe out of two '50 Chevy truck hoods as a kid. Plans to flip the canoe over and make a boat tailish "rat rod".

That raised an eyebrow.  ~:)

I haven't seen a chevy used before but several with the older International hoods. There were several of those trucks at the auction I went to last fall. I wonder where they ended up? :)

As a kid, I remember when the state had their own tractors for mowing the weeds along the highways. IIRC, in the early 60's, they went to the local salvage yard and mounted old car hoods on the roll cages of their tractors to keep the sun from beating down on the drivers.

I continue on with repairs to my brothers house.  About 3 days a week I go over there.

Still replacing switches and outlets in the house.  Near finished.  The outlets were so worn out , the plug would fall out easily.  Ceiling fans: a few more to install

Interior painting is near finished.   I repaired sheet rock in a closet thursday...  Wall was opened up to back side of the shower to repair leaks a few years ago.  I screwed in some backer boards, sheetrock screwed down. First coat of mud on it.  I am slow , but get the job done.

Need to reinstalll some base boards.  I removed them after i was told the floors would be ceramic tile or laminate .. Now it will be carpet in the bedrooms.

Buddy of mine that Bought that Studebaker Champ truck 1 year ago.. has the cab in colour.  He has the Studie a bit further apart than KB at O&S Repair shop.

It is a light blue with a 2 tone on the cab roof.  He says the roof color is Cool Grey..  a bit of purple in the grey.

A bit of "ha ha " here..  I was giving my buddy a bit of chit like we do KB about metal flake paint on the trucks  roof.   A nice 2 tone effect I told him.    My buddy is not a painter. Has not sprayed any car paint in decades.

That must have started the gears rollin for my buddy. Couple weeks later here we are with a different roof color on the Studie.

Well,  yea..  He is Canadian flakey.

He was gonna just paint the ol truck light blue as the main cab is now..  I teased him with the metal flake on the roof for a break up of color.  He never told me what he was up to, till he sent the photos.  He thinks the bumpers will be the grey colour too.. never say never

Since he is using a step side type  bed from a Ford Ranger, he named the truck: Stranger  and his neighbor owns a graphix sign company , I anticipate some vinyl graphix on the truck tail gate

I modified the pedal arm linkage to the brake unit today.  I added to the original arm and drilled two additional holes, one on each side of the original location.  The brake engineer wanted me to add to the arm, and I wanted to move the linkage to a shorter ratio.  This way we will see which one of us is correct.  The heat index is 109 right now, so I will wait until the morning to installed it and see what changes occur.

I'm working on the 54 truck, mounting the front end. I CAD designed some mounting plates, and went looking for some 3/16" plate to make them with.

My grandson brings me steel scraps from the scrap bin at work, so I went through what I had in stock, and found a plate that was exactly, to 1/32" of being just the right length, so I used it. I'll get some pictures up of what I am doing.

Yesterday I changed oil and filter in the Tacoma. I like that the filter is on top, so I changed it first, then drained the oil. Got that done, and was going to change oil and filter in the Subie, but no oil filter. DUH!  I picked up a filter today, ran the Subie into the shop and remembered the oil filter on top, so I changed it first. Got down on the floor to drain the oil, and forgot that I was supposed to run the car up on the ramps, as it sits so low.

What to do? Back up the car and get old oil in the new filter, while driving it onto the ramps? No...I crawled under it, slid the pan under and loosened the plug. Yeah, the oil shot past the pan and onto the floor. I hate when that happens.

I also learned something new this week. I have an old Cub Cadet with a starter/generator on it.  Everything works fine. I'm replacing it with a newer (89 toy) Craftsman rider and tried putting LED tail lights on it, but they wouldn't work with the headlights. Come to find out that the alternator puts out about 22 volts AC, and uses half of that to run the lights and half to charge the battery. The LED lights wouldn't work on it, so I used incandescent lights instead.

WHY didn't you guys tell me??

I installed the brake pedal arm this morning and I tried both positions.  The 4.2 to 1 and the 6.2 to 1.  The original pedal ratio was 4.88 to 1.  The results are consistent.  Poor brakes in all three positions.  I do not notice any difference between the three ratios.

My old college automotive research teacher alway said that it was just as important to find that something did not work, as it was to find something that did work.  I am ready for something that does work, and solve this brake problem.

Back in the 70's I built a Model A Vicky Street rod with independent suspension at both ends with disc brakes, 11" rotors up front and 12" out back. Everything said to use an adjustable valve for  bias in the back brake line feed, so I bought one. Not only did it make absolutely no difference from one end of the dial to the other, the rear brakes sucked. It took it out, fixed the gap in the line and ended up with brakes from hell that were almost perfectly balanced. Ya just never know.....
