Latest news on the 2 year project to get better brakes on the 1954 Chevy.  New master cylinder, new power brake booster, fresh turned nearly new rotors, and new high dollar brake pads.  The result, brakes are worse than they have ever been.  The original shoe brake system was far superior to what I have.   I would be afraid to drive it on a public road.  I am ordering a pressure test tool kit and then I will diagnose the system beginning at the master cylinder.  This is by far the hardest problem that I have ever tried to overcome.  I have spent so many hours on this one problem that I could have built another car.

Holy sheep dip John... the brakes are worse?.  It will be interesting what the pressure tests will show.  You may have to back up a couple versions to get the brakes working again

I went out to the airport this afternoon to escape the shop and the brake depression.  There was a group of four pilots and planes practicing an air show performance. Our local airport has an FAA designation as an aerobatic practice field. The pilots can call in and close the airport for practice. We get free air shows from time to time.  I understand that they were just getting use to flying together but they were a site to see.  It amazes me to see such perfection in a very complicated situation.

Killed 4 scorpions wednesday evening... killed 1 that found its way into the bathroom counter top. I was not happy to see that.  It was about 3 inches long tip to tail.

We have a jack  rabbit problem now. The critters are eating blooms off the new ground shrubs my wife planted.  Of course the rabbits live in my neighbors backyard, come over here to feed.  Same neighbor where the gophers setup camp and tunnel over to our yard to eat the plants

When I got my '40 Chevy back out late last summer....after a 5 or 6 year major rebuild I had trouble getting the 700R4  properly filled and working right. Turns out it was leaking, again, at the pressure port where my converter lockup was installed. It's a very tight location without much room between the trans and the frame. Hard to get the fittings to point right and stay whole.

So I removed everything and put a plug back in the port. I drove it a bit last fall and then put it away. OBT gave me a plug for the left side of the trans and a copy of instructions to hook up a rocker switch to allow the converter to be locked up, or not. My choice.

So yesterday with a new rocker switch with a light and a home made bracket I mounted the switch and bracket on the floor between the front of the seats. Took it out for about a 80 mile top down  round trip for pizza last night and it does exactly what I want. Cruises along locked up in OD at 1750 rpm at 55mph. I had sort of forgotten what a great two lane blacktop cruiser it has always been.

I'm a happy camper again

This week at my brothers house, I have been spray painting the interior walls.  Geez, you do not realize how much surface area there is till you do this.  Closets and all were painted.  Pop corn ceiling: painted.  My bro wanted paint on all of it.  Removing the pop corn ceiling was not on the list.  No time.

Still not finished.  Kitchen and dinning area need to be painted.  I've told them twice the stuff on the counters , table, other items sitting around need to GO..

I have sprayed about 17 gallons of paint in 2 days.  The exterior needs wood  repairs and paint too.  yippie.  LOL

Glad to hear it coming back to it glory days. I still haven't seen this one yet and hope to soon.
You never have time to do it right the first time but you always have time to do it again.

Everything went well yesterday, they have a big screen tv so I could watch what was going on.  Pretty neat when they cauterize, looks like a lightning storm.  Kind of a strange side of me coming out.  The last 2 projects I worked on before I retired was the network design for the Radiology suit and the new Oncology suite.  Now in the last year I have been a patient in both, and can see why they requested the stuff they did.

You were awake during the scope? I've always been put out. It would be interesting to watch. Good to know it went well!
I had a kidney/bladder ultra sound on Tuesday, but because of how you lay I couldn't see the screen, I had a heart ultra sound years ago and watched that, pretty cool, she even showed me the valve that Jone Rivers had replaced when she passed away a few weeks earlier. I'm due for a colonoscopy but after the prostate biopsy I had recently I will hold off for a while, let things cool down....😃
