I am continuing my experients with the brakes on the 54 Chevy.  The currently change is a new kind of brake pads and a rigid breaking in procedure.  I had to remove the nearly new rotors and have them turned before installing the new pads.  The brake engineer that is helping me thinks that I have case hardened the rotors and that I have the wrong type of brake pads. Updates to follow.  I am waiting for a friend to turn my rotors.

I spent a couple of hours this afternoon servicing the cbr600rr that my son rides.  I changed the fluids and gave it a once over. I have been using water to clean up dot 4 and 3 brake fluid very successfully. I tried to do that on dot 5. That is a silicone based fluid. A slimey mess would be an accurate description. Brake clean took care of the residue that got on the calipers after bleeding. I won't try the water clean up with 5 again. :)

Weird week on eBay...  I have some misc transmission parts on eBay.  Try to sell them , before they are tossed in scrap pile.

I receive notice my sale from May 3rd has been cancelled and eBay fees credit to me.  I check Paypal and the money from the sale is still in my account 1 week  after the cancellation.   Buyer claims "unauthorized use" of the ebay Account.

Today a new part I ordered 2 days ago on eBay was cancelled.  Seller claims to be out of stock now.

2 weeks ago: I had another eBay buyer asking me to visit his facebook page to discuss a "deal" on a transmission part.  I declined. He started calling me names in eBay messages. I reported him.  I doubt that does anything.

A few weeks ago, I rode past a farm with a small tractor in the weeds. I went back today to see if he wanted to sell it. He told me I could have it, as it was on his junk pile. To make a long story short, I gave him $20 and we loaded it on the trailer. I got it home and pushed it into the shop, added a cup of oil and some gas, put a used battery in it and it started up.  One rear tire is shot, but it still backed out of the shop, and the blades work. He told me it sat there for 3 years.

It's a Sears GT 18HP with 44" cut and 6 speeds. I've already ordered two new tires for the rear off Amazon. Another fun project to work on. It will be much cheaper than doing a car.

Brake job day. Front brakes on  Tacoma 2014 Truck 2 WD.  My brothers truck. Flush some fresh fluid thru the lines, etc. I must look the truck over good.

He has talked about these brakes for 1 year.  Will be interesting what I find.  He thinks maintenance is change the oil & filter. Close the hood.  That is a little harsh, but true.

I doubt the coolant has been serviced. Hoses, belts , checked.  I wonder if anything can be greased on this unit?

I had ordered two new rear tires for my "new to me" tractor. They came in today, and i've got them mounted. It looks much better with non-flat tires on it. Didn't get a chance to try it out, though. Heavy rains, and I had to go pick up my Tacoma PU from the dealer. They sprayed rust inhibitor on the frame and plugged a few holes in the frame. It's a 2014, and they still haven't figured out to use better steel?

No flames. Yet.

Trans shop said mid afternoon today that my GTP trans is built and going back in. I called them because shortly after picking it up, they called to say it had a bad engine mount. Well they checked them all and they were OK. Secretary said the guy thought he felt the whole engine move.

Well, yeah... thats what Pontiacs do. Yank hard at light throttle input. :) Hence the current state of affairs.

After driving the GT four months, same car no blower... it will seem silly giggle fast to me. ~:)  );b(

Today's commute was blissful in the GT though, finally did some good getting the A/C working on that one. It was 94 outside according to the car but I got home dry and relaxed. Ah. Normalcy is coming within range.

I am doing a little you tube experimenting.  I will try a link to my wind powered clothes line that I made a few years back.  Mostly we use it to dry our swimsuits and beach towels.  Another one of my weird wind powered devices.

In my part of the world, we'd have to have an emergency brake on the clothesline so it wouldn't throw the clothes off or take off in flight. We had a day of winter yesterday. The high was 52 after being in the upper 90's for the last couple of weeks. The wind was upper 40's in gusts and around 30 continuously. Fortunately, it has blown away for another day. :)

Got a call from the machine shop yesterday where my Chevy block is. I was hoping it was all machined....nope, block is no good, it had spun main bearings and messed the journals up beyond where they could be line bored....😕 He did say they had four bolt blocks already machined, ready to go, I mentioned that I had a two bolt block and he said to bring it out and if it's good he would use it as partial payment for a four bolt block. 🙂 I took it out today and have my fingers crossed....

Good luck with the block being good. It happened to me back in the late 70's, IIRC.  I had bought a 58 Jeep FC150 dirt cheap, and the engine was bad. I went to the machine shop that I used and asked how much to rebuild. He told me he had that exact same engine sitting under the bench, already rebuilt. The guy never came to pick it up. I paid $200 plus my old engine, and we were both happy.
