WZJUNK I have had really good success with irontite for stuff like that . I am sure everyone has their favorite go to, that is mine.

Quote from: "WZ JUNK"My 460 Ford is crying.  You can see the tear running down the dust shield just below the oil pan bolt near the rear main.  I suspect the freeze plug located in the back of the block is leaking.  I tried an additive that I have had really good luck with it in the past, but it is still shedding a tear.  I am wondering how much coolant actually circulates in this area of the block?  Today I plan to drain the coolant completely by removing the drain plugs in the block and then refilling the whole system.  My hope is that I can get more of the additive to the area that is leaking.

I do not think that I can remove the transmission from the truck without removing the engine.  This leak is in the absolutely worst possible place.   The good news is that I have the time to fix it, if I have to.  Its just a big job to remove the engine and transmission.  I hate the mess of all the fluids more than anything.

John, we both know you need to fix it now.  If you don't, you will be at the final race to win your class and she will go!  Keep up the good work.
Some people try to turn back their odometers
Not me, I want people to know "why" I look this way.
I\'ve traveled a long way and some of the
roads weren\'t paved.

I went out and picked up what i need to keep busy with during quarantine. POR 15 tank sealer ,metal prep and etch primer $181 . Then 2 special wheel bearings for my spindle mount dragster wheels $121 . Jeez it all fits in a shoe box for just over $300!

I adapted the GPS speedometer to the original Ranger instrument panel.  There is a whole lot of stuff that had to go on behind that black panel that it is mounted to.   There is a printed circuit panel back there and whole lot of plastic that had to be butchered in order to make it work.  I will finish it in the morning.

Sorry about the quality of the photos.  Not a good place to take a shot and I was tired. I was just trying to document the progress.

The top photo is the new speedometer and the bottom photo is the original cluster.

I got lucky and sold the front half of the rusty 76 extended cab. A man brought a roll off car hauler and loaded it in short order. I helped him load the doors and hood and small parts. Might have taken 15 minutes. :)
John, the speedo looks good.

I posted my first on line course today. Wow have I taken a leap into using technology !

C.K., an acquaintance of mine who is a college prof said that his on-line teaching was requiring more effort than in class. I think he was surprised at the work he had to do.

KB I would have to agree! I can whip up a demonstration on how to thread on the lathe in minutes . The presentation itself takes most of an hour . I spend the time to visually illustrate concepts during the demo to get the student to understand some of the geometry and critical points .I prefer that they understand what is happening rather than just 'do as I do'  The feedback I get from the students sets the pace of the demo.' Monkey see monkey do ' only works until it doesn't. I have spent over 8 hours just reviewing videos of how to thread and have not found one yet that suits my needs . If i were to set up and film one to the caliber and scope of my intended audience it would probably take a day or more with a helper to run the camera . I am new to the computer but have 30 plus years of trade instruction experience . It has taken me half as much time to prepare for the next 3 weeks of online instruction as it takes to plan for a 20 week semester of boots on the floor in shop instruction . This does not count the time I will likely have to spend clarifying concepts from student inquiry through email. I can not wait until I get my kids back in the shop.

Watching a few Youtube videos this sunday morning.  Photo via the laptop computer. I think it is the second time I have ever used this camera.

Tony, I think I had both of those rockets on the shelf.  I think that the one on the right I had was a 3 stage though.  The ceiling of one of my classrooms was filled with rockets, airplanes, and kites.  Good memories.

John.. the rocket you mention is a 3 stage unit.  The Saturn 5 rocket is an original Centuri model that is over 50 yrs olde. I have not flown any of these old rockets in many years. They would probably not survive the launch.

I have a few more old rockets in the closet somewhere. The 50+ year old launch tripod and other bits are here too.  It has been difficult to part with them.

It got up to 70 degrees here this afternoon. I did something that I should have done months ago when it was cold. I backed the 78 into the drive and crawled under it on a creeper and washed the whole underside. I had tried several times but wasn't able to get far enough under to get the bottom of the bed. It's clean enough now that you can see shiny paint on the bottom of the bed. Unless I change engines, I should be finished under there. :)

Installed the outer rockers on the 55 and buttoned up the floor everywhere except the front corners. I will leave that till I remover the bracing.
Moving on the back of the car to remove the spare tire holder and do a mini tub. I found a local guy with a coupe gas tank so I can adapt that to the new floor area and get rid of the vertical wagon tank. After that I hope to move on to rear wheel wells. I hung the right hand with a screw to see if they left me enough metal. Looks like I will need bigger tires. :)
