I spit out a wheel edit. Schott Venom Concave.

That could be a good choice. I have thought about US Mags rambler as an alternative for my 51. American Racing makes a very similar style. I would stay with 17's, though. If the wheel get's too large in a wheel well, I lose interest, just my feeble opinion.

I hear ya on that. The diameter shown is a complete shot in the dark, a guess and not a very good one but it shows the style and loosely represented color. I'd ventura guess that some wheel styles are less offensive in big sizes than others.

Howzabout I throw in a bonus side job on a  P O N T I A C  here? Been putting Camaro stuff on the A thread so this can balance that out. Leastwise until I come up with an "other stuff" thread for the fill-ins. 1968 Firebird with 400, originally 4 speed now TH400.

A guy put pans in but without having mechanicals and subframe out, stopped short of trimming underneath which is all I'm doing here. Trimming away overlap to make it more corrosion-protectable. I can tell the passenger side was first because the sawzall went across the body mount bracket at front. Dude missed connecting those to pan also but thats... par.

Not hating it thus far. Only so much I can do, and at least it is fully welded for the most part-

Just a little shaggy thats all. I done got started a little-

I don't think it was ever on the road after the pan job.

All slop, rust, and crud included, these have to be some of the worst looking pics yet.

I'll need to patch the shifter area. Riveted aluminum up top.

How about some stark contrast after all that? I simply don't have valid reference shots, or any wheel names but that one above. For the 51 F-1 5.0. Maybe this edited web grab pic showing stripe preferences / revisions (study hard, Frank) indicated by the owner... will convince him or boss to assist with that. He is heavy on the sweet talk :) but we need to order wheels so stripes are kinda beside the point at the moment. I searched all through the 3 brands most of his picks have been from, to no avail. Can't figure out what wheels are in random pics.

But I'm set now, to plug in wheels from just about any similarly angled / lit side shot of a car or truck, play with stripes and colors, etc. Wheel diameters are closer approximations of actual size and ride height, wheels, and mirrors are what existed in the reference shot. It was even almost the right colors. :)

Finally got a usable wheel pic :)

No idea what kind of wheels those are.

That flows much better.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

I can agree with that. Customer drew out that revision. (the bottom image). To me, it no longer reads as a Boss stripe and dates the paint to around 1990. Like this:

Pro Street. Fortunately that other design caught some traction. Of the two, boss prefers the stripe in the top image (doesn't like wheels tho). Owner's top two stripe picks of those shown were these two.

I am kind of dazed though... was taking shifter out of Firebird and came to a realization about the floor. Still trying to fully grasp the situation but feel just sick about it. Not going to post anything more about that one. The car was ruined a long time ago and it still is, and I am forced to take part in things I know are awful. I probably better het used to that. It nauseates me. :(  Theres just overwhelming bad everywhere. Yuck. No more money though, so nothing can be done about it.

Desperately grasping for anything positive in this entire day... I think I am done with the Firebird. Thats it. F1 man thanked me for the picture before I left for work and from then on, and for the foreseeable future... rampant evil and negativity and uncontrollable loss. My outlook is so bleak at the moment, the only thing to do is shut the hell up. Wow.

Never mind. Firebird done.

Whew the song is never over and the party never ends.    Different wheels. Boss's pick. Without the knock offs. I think best so far.

The stripes seem to have made another round of elimination :) Thats nice.

Oh forever more... I was ready to sack out but kept staring... and suddenly realized I had not done justice to the big horizontal stripe. The bed half, I had run out of steam on I guess.

So I corrected how the stripe follows the fender plus tapered it down smaller as I felt it was too broad. Could be a mite too skinny now but I feel better about the representation, it is way more realistic. But the lids are heavy. The last pair of pics are adequate for stripe comparo and should fill the need for now. :)

Is it better  :?:

What if the thick part was a little narrower? I think it's getting better but maybe after looking at it for a while, it's starting to grow on me. Those wheels would be a good choice. They're pretty common these days but they work well on some trucks.
TEAM SMART

I thought the same thing after narrowing the horizontal. But was just there to fix my mistake of not finishing the bed stripe. I can't say that one hasn't grown on me some too. The most recent wheels seem better to my eye but I don't have an eye for wheels. My suggestion was more positive space (less hole). Kick out the trendy desires and I think good ol five slots would do for me.

The other stripe pattern, with wraparound cab part and just rear fender bit, for some not yet verbalized reason, works. When overlaid on top of the horiz stripe one exactly then flipping back and forth while not breaking stare, it becomes obvious that the horiz stripe makes the truck seem taller. The other somehow implies motion even more strongly and looks leaner and meaner, more muscley. The balance is definitely better and in consideration of the amount and distribution of accent color all around the truck, I think it will hold up at other angles. It is arguably more intriguing I think because of two unusual and unexpected things... cab back wraparound (which I imagine will be an eye catcher / point of interest from behind plus counter the sticky uppyness of the cab above bed rails), and the lonely little back fender stripe with no front partner. I believe those things make you look harder at the truck, then the fact that it utilizes / accentuates existing body contours yet retains enough diagonal dogleg to be a little Boss-y and incorporate a tasteful script there... make it unique.

So who knows? Not me. I'll just listen and make revisions promptly when asked. Its Wednesday morning and I am Friday used up. If I can knock out the A today, that'd charge my batteries a smidge. I am weary.

My suggestion is to cut the stripes from vinyl and put them on. Then the customer can decide if to leave or remove. :) Graphics and wheels go with fads. They should be easily replaced. :)

I prefer the look of the graphic line higher. In the top picture if you were to narrow the stripe on the hood and move the horizontal line lower to where it passes below the door handle in line with the top stripe on the bed and lose the line lower on the rear fender. '

Aso include an outline stripe on the graphic maybe in dark red or similar shade.

Thats a darn good point, Bill. :)

Moose, a couple things sort of like your welcome suggestions are already in the cull pile but posted earlier-

I "hid" the bed stripe under the rail there. Shown below are accent stripe colors in consideration.

But... like I said stripes aren't the current focus. Tubs are happening and we need wheels. Owner txtd me last night requesting another handful of wheel choices. This batch being within his price range, he says. It will be at least the weekend before I go messin with that again. Full plate. This week feels like it should be next Tuesday already.
