Rodder's Roundtable / BBQ Road Trip?
November 03, 2004, 10:45:43 AM
Was on my way west thru Ohio on I-80/90 a few sundays back and saw a light colored five window coupe hauling a barbeque trailer the other way. Was I seeing the famous RRT BBQ? Where was the party?

Did you ever think that maybe spreading the word on this accident may have been the reason why you are on earth?  Who knows how many lives you have affected by doing it Thank you!

Rodder's Roundtable / air compressor problem
May 27, 2004, 09:06:33 PM
I have one of those small twin-tank units with an electric motor bought at a yard sale. Think its an Emglo. I need to do some nailing so bought an air nailer. When I fired up the compressor the relief valve (think that's what it is) opened at 40PSI,  then the hose from the compressor to the tank blew off and I didn't hear any air coming from the tank. Any ideas / hints/ suggestions? It worked ok the last time I used it.

My digital speedo takes a break frequently leaving me without any MPH display or reliable odometer. Can I use an aftermarket speedo on this engine/trans combo? Anybody want to buy it? Please?

Thanks to all who offered their opinion. It was close, but I decided to go with the mechanic's Bonnie. Wish me luck.

Want to get something with better fuel economy than the 'burban but spend less than $1000 to get it. I have an opportunity to chose between the following:

'92 Pontiac Bonnie 4 dr. Has small v-6, 150K miles, and most options. My mechanic owns this car.

'90 Toyota Corolla wagon : 200 K miles with minimum accessories

Both are decent looking. Bonnie needs tires; 'Yota needs a radiator.

Please give me your 2 cents

Rodder's Roundtable / Car dollies
May 04, 2004, 02:45:14 PM
Harbor FREIGHT opened a new store hereabouts and had a promo on car dollies 4000 pound cap. for $40/pair. Bought two sets and tried them yesterday with my VW bus.  Hah! The only way I could move the rig was swinging the front or rear to the side. Straight back or to the side was no go. Did I get cheapies or is this standard for this type of gizmo? Are steroids required? Think I got hosed.

March 03, 2004, 02:11:22 PM
This fine specimen of Detroit engineering is nees of an Air Diverter Valve (goes on Driver's side0. Mr Good Wrench says this part is a $175.00 Item. I'm hoping to find it for less. It looks like it should be about $5.00  Any ideas etc I'd appreciate. I guess I can get along without it until inspection is due.

BTW: Sure enjoyed "Rides last night. What wonderful skills you guys have. Those custom aluminum cars were just amazing.

Rodder's Roundtable / Price of Gasoline
February 27, 2004, 05:56:54 PM
Well, if we each told all our friends, and they told all their friends etc etc. That would be a good chunk of US gas buyers. Besides its easy. Can't remember the last time I bought exxon/mobil gas. Look what the internet did for Howard Dean.

Rodder's Roundtable / Price of Gasoline
February 26, 2004, 10:36:57 PM
My cousin down in Carolina just sent me this suggestion for getting gas prices to come down. To get to the heart of the idea, just stop buying gas from EXXON/Mobil. If their gas doesn't sell at its cuirrent high price, they will eventually bring the price down, forcing other brands to follow suit. The idea is if we can put a critical mass of people together to do this, we CAN make it happen. If this idea makes sense to you pass it on to evryone you know. Maybe we can get it back to 25 cents a gallon. Remember those days?
