Well if Sam, dragrcr50,  started his car on Halloween maybe Hooley's should make it's debut on Halloween.

Hooley got the body back from John, WZJUNK, recently and just got the motor/trans in.

I can't believe what a nice job John did on the body and Hooley says that he is afraid to touch the car it is that nice.

John should have the one-piece front done in the next few days (maybe he will comment on that and more).

This is the view John said most of Hooley's competition will see and since he is running the non-blown injected alcohol motor he ran at B'ville that powered the car to about 219 mph he might be right.

Sam had a hand in this J also as he built the cage in the car and of course did a great job!!  Since they are both going to be finished about the same time I think a race for bragging rights is in order.  They don't live that far from each other and wouldn't it be neat to see these two great cars line up next to each other.

I'll be holding the bets but will be staying neutral on that one,

I am working on the front end.  I wanted to paint it this weekend but my schedule and the fact that it needs more work means that it will be a few days before it is painted and on the car.  I am anxious to see it make a pass.  It has taken to long to get the car out of my shop but I have been working on other projects at the same time.  I told Hooley to be a little more careful when he selects the next car for a project as this car and the Studebaker were in pretty sad shape.  The Henry was missing its rocker panels and I made molds and made them out of fiberglass.  I changed the rear wheel well openings so that they are two inches bigger all the way around to clear the slicks.  We decided to do it that way instead of radiusing the openings.  The wheelbase is three inches longer so I cut out the front wheel opening and moved them forward and I also made them a little bigger.  I also made the fiberglass fake headlights and they will have a headlight decal like the Studebaker.

The rear bumper is the stainless steel flue pipe from the HAMB Drags pig roast (cremate) of a few years back.  I had made for another gasser but we decided not to use it on that one.

I used a product called Slick Sand to do the block sanding. I like the way it works.  It is a high fill spray on bondo.  I painted the car with $67 a gallon urethane single stage paint and I used my $30 Harbor Freight spray gun.

Friend of mine has his J near finished.... he made an easy pass at SpeedWorld dragway last weekend.

This weekend is a Nostalgia drag race event.

This car was a gasser in the 60's... out of Ohio area IF I recall what he told me.

Things did not work out well today... Bert's motor has some problems. It will not rev past 4500, pops back.

When you spank the throttle, the front carb has gasoline vapors pushing back up like an intake  valve is hanging open.  Dual 4 barrel carbs. The back carb does not have the vapors coming back out.

We checked timing ,  ran the valves, added .010 to the lash settings for S  & Grins.... same problem.  We watched the races, loaded the car on the trailer for the trip home.

a good day  8)

Bert's J sure has the look.  Henry J's are COOL.
We fired the motor Sat.  :D It sounded good. We messed up the fly wheel and the starter  . I ordered a new one today. I finished up the interior ,wiring and tail lights. It won't be long now. I talked to John today and he is putting a lot of time getting the front end ready for paint. He sure did a good job on the body.

                     Will be racing soon.  Hooley
