Quote from: "Hooley"Crosley, Has Bert found out why the motor won't go past 4,500 rpms yet?

Hooley

Problem was found with Bert's car.

A long racer , speed shop owner Ed Smith worked on the car. The cam gear on the crank shaft had two "o" stamped on it for cam timing.  Bert installed the cam at the wrong spot.

Bert bought this 355  as a fresh build with bad heads(valves & springs wrong)  He had the heads freshened and disassembled the engine for inspection with  a cam shaft change too..  Bert did not check close enough.

The motor revs like a muther now.

Ed Smith is located in down town Glendale about 56 avenue , south of Glendale Ave...

His boy operates 5 Star engines there too.  Same location for decades

Lets go back further... Ed had a shop near the I-17 on Glendale ave.  It was behind a building that was one of the first Checker Auto parts in the area.

Ed installed a posi and 4.56 gears into my 68 SS-396 Chevelle I owned at the time.
