Crosley, Has Bert found out why the motor won't go past 4,500 rpms yet?

George and Vance Sam has been down that 1/4 mile more times and a whole lot faster than I have. I think I can spank that old Willies. At lest we will put on a good show for the folks.  George, I am not sure what to name it . I have thought about "ORANGE CRUSHER" or ORANGE CRUSH
I am open for sugustions. John said I couldn't call it "JOHNNY'S ROD SHOP"

I took out the flexplate tonight . the new one will be here tomorrow. It should be back together in the evening.

Hooley....... nope.

Bert has the motor apart. Roller rockers seem to be rubbing on the rocker arm studs.  Like the push rods are too short and the bottom of the roller rocker is rubbing on the hex part of the threaded stud.

Bert fired up his motor home and  took off this week with his wife on a short vacation

974 jr has a ring to it. Or is that the car number?
Burt may have did the right thing by getting away from it for a little while.

Dam the luck Sam. I have the J back together except for the tranny cover and the seat.

Hay guys, thanks for all the help with names Istill haven't made a decision. I did see the SUNKIST too.
Spanky helped me Sat morn to finish up some small details so we headed for the Tulsa Track for a little T&T,
We only drove from to the garage to the trailer and then down the track.
Our first try left us out of fuel in the water box with out a burn out.   Next
We were going to do a 60 ft and then drive it down the track to see how it Handel. WELL I just couldn't lift it till it was at the 1000 ft. then coasted through the lights for a 10.60.  1.444 60ft.
third and last try netted us with a little more seat time with a speed of 121 mph.  All in all it was worth the year and a half of work. The crew said it will pick up after we put the front end on.
We don't have any pictures yet.
It should be ready for Nobel.  Where are you SAM?

enjenjo what does 487 mean?

My friend Bert with the Missing Link Henry J found a push rod that was hitting a rough spot on the head guide hole.  He said the push rod was hitting a spot , perhaps sticking some.

He had new push rods , hardened chrome moly or some such item.  they may have been slightly larger in diameter causing a problem on one intake valve.

I told him to cut the holes open and install guide plates under the screw in studs.
