Helping prep a Karmann Ghia for epoxy. ???

Saw some alienfangledy headlight on a customized Chevelle. Looks like a bundt Jello mold. :o

Witnessed my 55 firewall build in epoxy finally.

It got a poly primer bath, hood not yet.

Growing new pinky knuckles under creative bandages. :arrow:

My seal install tool..  Snap On brand.  Only 20 dollars a week for 25 weeks.  :lol:  :lol:

Will install the 3rd wheel - hub tomorrow.  I may finish the wheel brearing repak on the RV 4 wheels  this week.  Brakes on the right rear are in good shape.

I installed the fresh brakes on the left rear side today, then the hub - drum assembly was installed.

My body does not seem to like the crawling under the RV to jack up the axle and bending down working on the hubs.  Oh well..

Tony, I think you have a bogus seal installer tool.  If it was a 'real' Snap On, wouldn't it be made of oak?

I'm pulling benches and parts away from the walls so I can drill holes for the pest control guys to spray their white ant treatment into the ground.
Its slow going and no working on cars for a few days at least.
I maybe from down under but I know which way is up.
Oh hell there goes another head rush.

CK the Chevelle just got a full love job. We redid a freshly done full love job that was so poorly done they brought it straight to us to completely redo.

KB you are not alone, it seems to be universally charismatic. Heres an F1 final primer pic. I did the body then another couple or couple of couple guys redid parts here and there and another in the next stall who says the running boards are backwards was fabbing redoing welding after final primer until his mother unexpectedly passed yesterday.

Me, this is all I do now... sand/fill/prime things I once did the metal work on that some new guy who isn't there anymore sanded / filled / primed that wasn't good enough. After that, usually some new guy or girl redoes what I did then I get it to redo again. Then the painter redoes it. No idea how I stay hired but this is what a dozen years in classic / custom gets you. A stool and block demotion. Broke that silly welding habit of mine alright. I always find myself alone in a big grey room wuth sanding work piled up, its a perpetual cycle. Woohoo.

Well I got home today with weather enough to get that 455 exercise in that I was shootin for last Sunday.  :) Ah. Needed that. Much better. :arrow:

Pulled the RV  wheel hub drum off.  Found the brake, arm was loose, wire rubbed thru.

Circles around the worn wire, loose brake arm. Looks like the center of the arm pivot point has separated ? I will inspect that next week for the problem.

Rain here today.  Windy , chilly..  I do not feel up to installation of the last RV  wheel - brake hub today. It can wait.  The bearings are repacked, seal installed with my Snappy tool.

After this is finished, time to get up on the RV roof and reseal a few areas.  ANother road trip in 2023 will happen. Likely a shorter trip because of fuel costs, unless that changes.  :roll:  :roll:  :roll:

Kind of a bittersweet week.  I drove the 58 to a classic car shop for an appraisal, that was great. Worth more than I thought.  But, on the way home, the car started shaking and running rough. Hmmm...tires or driveshaft center bearing? Turned out the 32 year old tires with maybe 5000 miles on them decided two should throw their belts, both on the right side.  Four new tires will be here tomorrow.  Am debating using one of the 'good' ones for a spare, to replace the even older bias ply tire in there, with good tread. Ideas? Yes, No?

There was less than a 1/4 tank of gas, so I drained some. Slightly discolored and some rust and sludgey stuff in the bottom of a 2 cup jar. I think the off color is from the 'Instead O'Lead" I've added in the past. Put in new gas, only use premium non-ethanol, and changed the fuel filter.  Full of rust and heavy.  Will run some gas out of the fuel line tomorrow, before the filter.  I may have gotten some bad gas a while back, but I've only driven the car a couple times this year.  I used Eastwood sealer back in the 90's when I did the car.  I'll have to use up this gas, then check the inside of the tank.  At almost $5/gallon, I don't want to use it in the Tacoma.  All my 5 gallon cans are full.

Throw the old tires away. I have had two that blew up with no load on them that were not near that old

Monday was a foggy morning here.  Humidity has been in the high 90%..

I finished the RV wheel bearings and tire rotate. Adjusted the brakes up a bit on the these right side tires as I worked on them.  We have a few more maintenance items on the RV before the 2023 road trips. We may shorten the trips in 2023. Or drive the car on a few trips? It is all undecided at this point.

Climbed up on the roof of the RV. Resealed a few areas with a caulk product called Dicor self leveling caulk. Very sticky stuff.
