Spent some time on the chopper fender tonight. I bought a trailer fender from princess auto (your harbor freight) and used the shrinker to get it to match the radius of the tire with clearance . Then took a piece of 1/4 x 2" flat bar and made it match the inside radius of the fender . Luckily this fender matches the tire width 9" . I will make the fender mounts thread into the flat bar through the fender and another flat bar across the back of the fender (under the fender) will thread to the sissy bar. Both flat bar s will be welded together and should make a solid mount and solid base for the second seat.

The Honda Civic car has been starting and driving fine.. This morning as we ran a few errands, the dash message pops up " tighten gas cap". I filled the tank yesterday.  So  the voices in my head said: am I going senile with other stuff now too? I Checked the gas cap, it is tight.

Looking online, it seems a wait and see if the message goes off , returns, or it can set the "check engine" light.

Made a couple fender mount brackets tonight . They will bolt through the fender into the 1/4" threaded holes in the flat bar inside the fender . Now have to make the flat bar that goes from side to side under the fender to bolt the sissy bar to . This should make a pretty stout mount for the fender and second seat .

Pulled 2nd brake drum - hub assembly off the RV..  I am repacking grease and new seals while I look at stuff.. Left rear wheel: rear brake shoe (12 inch dia) is very worn, front shoe is double the thickness. Yet the brake dust inside is very lite?  Seems Weird.  Oh well, I am going to work on all 4 wheels.

Its actually very little money more to buy a loaded backing plate assembly over buying just the pair of shoes. Bonded Shoes are $50 to $85 dollars for a pair (front and rear)... For $105.00 & up I can buy the whole assembly with brake magnet too. These are self adjusting brakes on my RV.  BUT: the lower priced assemblies for the left side are back ordered to the end of 2022. Right side is available..

Fun Fact: brakes on my RV are 12 x 2 inches. These fit axle rated at 5200# , 6k# and 7k# ... Only the hub and drum are different with lug stud count. My axle is 7k # rated , with 8 lugs.  I can see where my brake shoes would wear out faster with the weight.. Seems like my rv should have 12 x 2.5 inch shoe design for the weight?

Finished the fender mounts today and welded the 1/4 x2 flat bar strip to the inside of the fender . Then I went for the sissy bar mount and messed it up . One hole looks to be 1/8" forward of the other  I made mounting blocks to bolt to the sissy bar mount holes from 3/4 round . I will likely make the sissy bar mounts for axle flange tomorrow . I have seen where they make each end of the mount drilled out for the strut bar so it makes it easy to get the positioning right . Not sure what son wants for the sissy bar design so I will leave it as a pair of struts for now . We can get artistic later . I just want the fender to be mounted solidly for now .

The "loose gas cap" warning in the Honda Civic car has shut off.  I guess the system is ok now?

Wife wanted a breakfast sammitch from a place here called Whataburger.  We drive over. The Doors are locked.  A regular customer there we see often, tells us there are not enough employees.  So the drive thru is open only. This is the same Whataburger that just over 1 year ago , the whole staff walked out because of a manager that was a "Richard head"..

Only 1 mile away there is a McDonalds that is always open. Great employees there.  Always helpful. Weird how some Businesses can operate good, others struggle ? The sausage muffin sammitch hit the spot this morning.

About 2 weeks ago , we stopped on a sunday at a Subway for a hot meatball sammitch. 1 girl was working there: alone.  Customers walked in , walked out.  One customer  beached at her for the long wait.  The girl just moved along doing the best she could, shrugged off the folks that were angry.

started making lower sissy bar mounts today . Started with 2" long 1" square stock . Milled a 3/8 wide x 5/8 deep slot on the bottom to fit over the axle mounts , then drilled and tapped for 5/16 coarse with through hole  on opposite side . Tomorrow I will put them in a 4 jaw chuck and turn the OD on the part that gets the 1/2 bar installed . Time to get artistic with the shape.

Daily driver croaked last Wednesday. Might be curtains. Sunday I fell chasing a dog from yard and took a whole bunch of small injuries. Bent and scraped up all my car and house keys and at the ends of my arms are handburgers. Going back to work tomorrow to slow the healing process.

Pictures  We need stinking pictures ! I may try that again soon . Got my wifes phone when mine died and it is supposed to be easier to load onto my computer . At least this time I have been taking pictures , I send text them to my son when there is something worth looking at . Sculpted the sissy bar mounts today . Now just have to do something with the bottom edge as it looks too " beefy ". Probably do a freehand radiusing of the bottom edge .

Another wacky tracking  delivery of parts.. The RV parts came out of Lancaster TX , thru Fort Worth TX to Oakland CA , then to Phoenix AZ area, then delivered , at 1 day early from what tracking indicated.  I had difficulty finding the RV brake parts local, They were weeks out.

Another item:  I ordered a dash cover for my F-350 truck in October. They took my money immediately. 3 weeks later I emailed CoverKing asking where my cover was.  Customer Agent #9 tells me the item is in production, it will ship on November 24th which was turkey day.. I email again on the 29th.  Now I am told there is no material to build the dash cover for 2 - 3 weeks , if the material comes in.  I cancelled the order. It would be 8 weeks or more  out and still no cover.
