I am headed to Tulsa for the day with some gear-head friends.  We are going to the drag strip to visit with the contestants in Rocky Mountain Race Week as they make their runs today.  They are driving up from Ennis,Texas where they raced at the Texas Motorplex yesterday.  This is the drag and drive event that my wife and I entered last year.  I want to check in with some of the people I met last year.  Hooley is a  co driver for one of the entrees.

Chopper is now a roller . Welded the neck in and machined adapters to fit the suzuki neck on the Harley trees.

I went to the Hooker Ok. car show today. It started misting about 5 miles from town. It was a cool wet day. One of my friends who has moved away was there. We spent hours visiting. Even with the cold, it was great to see him again. Nothing ventured, nothing gained. And yes, the truck is filthy, again. :)

I've been at the cabin for a while and haven't been able to log in to the new format on my phone here and post (weak signal maybe). I'm home for a day or two and can log in on my desk top.

I see WZJUNK posted that my old truck is for sale. Looking at the ad was a little bittersweet thinking about all the good times we had.

I'm still working on the addition to the log cabin...staying in the guest house.  I'm working alone so things go slowly for this old man but it's a passion.

Made handlebar mounts and mounted the suzuki bars today . Eventually I will have to make the jack shaft to get around the 230 tire . I am going to run the chain to the tire on the right side . That way the jack shaft will have some distance between the bearings . I have been looking them up and it seems the short ones that run both chains on the left end up with bearing issues . This shaft will possibly run as high as 4000 rpm or more so I am thinking of ways I could run a pair of pinion bearings and seals in a housing with gear oil . I would rather do overkill than have a unit that is failure prone . The bike will be for my son who is 6 hours drive from me . It would be best if it was nearly maintenance/worry free .

I installed a set of Halibrand Wheels on my old truck.  Of course they are not real Halibrand Wheels but they do say Halibrand on them, They are sold by Holley and they are made in China.  They look good and I can not find a flaw in them.  I ordered them direct from Holley and they arrived within a week. I am a happy customer.

I am now 73 years young, and after building many hot rods, this is the first set of new wheels that I have purchased.  Previously I bought everyones left overs.

This style of wheels are difficult to install because of the long shank style lug nuts.  I made a tool to help by grinding the nut off of an old shank style lug nut and cutting a slot for a screwdriver with a cutoff tool in that end.  You put two of these on nearly opposite studs, slide the wheel on, start a couple of the reallug nuts, and then remove the guide that I made with a screwdriver.

I had plan to post a photo but it does not look like I have that option.

The image above appears when you start a thread or reply to a thread. The restrictions on file size are listed there. You should also be able to drag and drop the files into that block. But I have not tried it.

To see the attachment screen, I had to either hit preview after writing the post or put the post up and click on the modify buttom at the right hand side of the window where the 3 dots and more are. There are now a few pics on the 48 thread. :)

It worked so good that I accidentally posted the picture twice.  Now I am having trouble deleting the second photo.  I will probably just leave it and be more careful next time. :)
