I tried to enter Hot Rod Drag Week.  They take 400 entries.  They got their field in 4 minuets.  It took me 6 minuets to fill out the form and submit it.  I am on the waiting list.  Old slow fat fingers.  :D

Quote from: "416Ford"Three point black if possible. Floor mounted on the inside and something that looks good on the outside. I think floor or b pillar will work on that side.
Getting hard to find stuff that's not attached to the seat or covered in plastic from the floor to the ceiling.  Not to mention air bag censors.

I have a pair that are medium blue in a Ford van.

Phat46, That's a wonderful hobby you have. I know there are expenses but the satisfaction from the creativity should be wonderful. It;s obvious to me you have talent. :)

Drove up to Detroit today and picked up some 1 by 2 steel  tubing. 215 ft for $192 The guy that had it has a ton of interesting stuff. I am negotiating on an old cast iron band saw frame to make a English wheel.

Actually the expense is minimal, I paint on hardboard, a 4' X 8' sheet at Lowes is about $9, (I used to oil paint landscapes on canvas,  But can't get the detail I like on canvas for automotive paintings) I can get 12- 20 painting out of it. I buy cheap acrylic paint at Hobby Lobby for no less than 40% off in the largest tubes they sell. Brushes can be pricey but last a long time, years. The satisfaction is great, and frequent as compared to other things I have done, I average 2-5 paintings a week. Thank you for the compliment also.

Finished this Cobra painting today. Something bothers me about it, but not enough to put anymore time into it. On to another one...😄

Thats a tough car to freehand. I know what you mean. Keep painting. Nice work. :)

Here's something don't happen every day. My cousin had her lungs out today.

They removed a dozen clots and reinstalled them. Ribs are cut at the backside for this and I certainly had no idea it was possible. They'll keep her coma'ed for a couple days. Ten hour operation, out in CA. Whew. Second cousin is still around fighting lung cancer. Poor gals. Pretty ones always seem to have a rough go of things.

I have been running the 460 engine in the Ranger to break in the cam.  I had a few leaks and a couple of changes to make but it has went well.  I ordered the radiator cap that Speedway tried to sell me when I bought the inline filler.  I will see how theirs is different than what I bought locally.  The current one burps and spits out antifreeze when the the thermostat opens.  I know that theirs is a Stat brand and it has a higher operating pressure.

There is some winter weather passing through and I will work on other stuff until the roads clear and the temperature comes back up to a more comfort number.  I hope to be test driving by next week.

I use a Stant brand radiator cap on my 1962 Falcon from SpeedWay Motors...  It is 25 pound pressure cap as I recall.

Not sure if I started something.  I took my great nephew for his first ever motorcycle ride this evening after he asked if I would. He is  17 yrs old.  He received some coaching from his grand father (my brother) on how to not ride on the back.

The lad did real well... I even hit the freeway for a few miles, he got the full experience.

Oh.. his mom is in Connecticut where they live. The lad is out here in AZ for a short vacation.

Thats cool, to provide the first bike experience. Got same at probably 12 riding with Dad on a 60s BMW 550.

Aforementioned cousin was awake and naturally aspirated by this afternoon. Thats gigantic. Might be back to speaking tomorrowish. Hoping for no complications, which puts her out of ICU end of week. :)  Remarkable :!:

I made this tool today.  I need to rotate the 460 engine to check the valve lifter setting.  There is not enough room to access the bolt in the center of the harmonic balancer.  This tool goes into the area between the balancer and the pulleys and fits the 4 bolt flange that the pulley bolt to. Not fancy but it works and I can use it from the top while I am looking at the timing mark and pointer.  I added index marks at 90 degree intervals around the balancer.   I have drawer full of stuff like this.  The problem is that I forget what is in the drawer.

I started using a marker to label everything in the "one time" drawer. I seem to have the same problem that several of you have mentioned. :)
Matt, I find your cousin's story way past remarkable. That makes what we do so primitive that I struggle for words. :)

spent this evening welding up my merc gas tank . i had done it with brass but thought otherwise . i cut out the bad section and welded in a patch . i have to do the bottom seam yet and then check for leaks . Filled the tank with water , purged the air space with argon and then waved a torch past the filler neck . No boom so the welding began. New tank is about $400 , the patch was just scrap  :)
