Outside of doors sealed with epoxy and 3 layers of high build primer on. Finally. :) Today was warm. The next week won't be.

that is quite the nice blue color in the photos.   I bet it is amazing  to see in person

Thank you, Tony.
Mid day break. Doors block sanded 1st time and fenders 2nd time. This is really a good time!

Yesterday, I found 2 low spots in the fenders. Almost the exact spot on opposite sides. Those of you that have followed me for some time know the sequence: I work, I paint, it isn't good enough so I redo. The hood isn't good enough. The hood, dash and steering wheel are what you look at all the time. Just 1 more time.

Todays stopping point. T.B. :) I buffed the other side of the cowl and removed the paper from the inside.

It looks really great.  I bet the photos do not do it justice.  I have always liked a metallic blue but I can not remember painting anything that color.  Metallics are hard for me paint without some mottle to work on.  Late in life I got lazy and I stick to solid colors.  My first pearl paint job was a tri coat, where the middle coat was a clear that I had to mix the powdered pearl into the clear.  You had to add just the right amount and the same amount each time you mixed.  If you got to much pearl it turned cloudy when sprayed.  Another lesson learned the hard way.

Question: what kind of person cuts and buffs the dash? Answer: Someone without a good painting area that overspray got on it and looked like dirt! :)

no metalflake on the roof ?

kb426

C.K.,of course it has metalflake. It's so small you can't see it. :)
The back of the cab wasn't good enough. Almost finished sanding for repaint. I wish the weather would cooperate. :)

The weather finally broke for a little bit so I could spray a little. The pics are of the fenders and doors in sealer and primer. Should be the last time for that. :)

I have been told that when you paint separate panels you should set them up like they sit on the car . In other words don,t paint fenders and doors laying flat as the metallic will sit different and look a different shade . Have you had issues with that or is this another myth. I would imagine that with the HEAVY METALFLAKE that you are about to spray it would be beneficial to spray them laying flat if possible 8)

C.K., you are correct. Almost always, panel painting causes grief. A real painter knows what to do to minimize that but a once a year guy suffers the consequences. :)
