Tiny update. After thinking for awhile, I decide against welding the tail pipes to the mufflers. I bought some couplers and went to work. The left side was simple. The right side required some tubing to be removed and a new piece mitered and welded to it. It's fairly close where it passes the fuel tank. I started on hangers but ran out of steam. Yes, Bob, that is a hanger from the c.v. :)

The rear axle pinion shims arrived today. I installed them and did some measuring. I think I'm 1 degree off so I think this will work. I do believe it's closer than as originally produced. :)

I was thinking about this Crown Vic in a pickup build tuesday morning... as you recently had  been  working on the exhaust of the project ..

I was pulling out of a driveway after gettin some breakfast, headed to work.  As I sat there waiting for traffic.  I hear this rumble like a V8 with glass pack mufflers.  I look around for a hotrod or something, then it drives by.  A Crown Vic rumbles by , the fellow had his foot in it a bit, with full tail pipes, it was quite the sound from a white Crown Vic.

Tony, I have removed the cats. One was trying to plug the pathway. With those removed, I don't know what to expect from the stock mufflers. The car was quiet but the engine made some decent noise through the air box and pipes. ???? :)

This afternoon's task was muffler hangers. I think I'm done with them. :)

Well yeah, usually if you hang something, its done for.  :)

I brought my bucket of whitewash and mop because I thought you'd be ready for paint by today.    (kicks dirt) Now what?

KB ...How are you going re-program due to the cats being missing ??? That should drive the ECM crazy .....EGR system too ..Not enough back pressure for the EGR to work properly ???

Bob, the 51 doesn't have them and I haven't had any problems. It doesn't put up any codes for it, either. So until I drive it, I have my head in the sand expecting good results. :)

I bet they were in their darn treehouse making cookies. You should at least get cookies. I shall remain neutral in your war of acronyms. :!:

Bob I have a cat emulator under my car. No, it doesn't make meow sounds when you stomp it, it just tells the car it's cat is healthy. Perhaps I should see a veterinarian. Fords prolly want something to tell the vehicle it's a Mustang. Oops, wait!

Minor update. As  I was flying through the air at bridges and overpasses in the 32, I thought about how solid things have to be for survival on the road. I made a brace to tie the 2 muffler hangers together, :)

Elvis and I didn't run away yet. :) I threaded the new factory brake line under the engine and made standoffs for both sides. I put the square tube parts in the lathe to face them off. I will need to do some adapting at some point on this. I don't have enough parts to do metric bubble from the master to where it will run to the rear axle. A trip to the parts store might fix that. :)

Items completed: oil in rear end, upper radiator hose modified, 2 more exhaust hangers, fuel gauge sender arm replaced with one that I believe will work, fuel tank mounted for last time. Items started: lower radiator hose cut to length, need to order a splice, C.V. fuel pump assembly cut and modified to adapt to Tanks flange. Parts list made to order to connect wiring, fuel bulkhead fitting, hose splice for radiator. I spent hours finding ways that didn't work by using leftover parts for the fuel pump and gauge assemblies. Some days aren't real productive. :)
