Matt, the firewall- toeboard flange has 3 line up holes. I plan on using them as the primary front alignment. I haven't made it to the rear of the cab yet to see if there is more alignment holes. I purchased a 1972 service manual but it's mostly mechanical and electrical. I found nothing about sheet metal. The area I'm most concerned about is the door post area. I want to cut below the lower hinge if that proves to be the most advantageous to the end result. I've been down on brain power so no decisions have been made yet. I've had to think at work. There's not always enough brain function left at the end of the day. :)

I'm glad we both speak tired. :)   Hear you loud and clear, sir. Forget it until its time.

Perhaps make an angle iron structure box, corners at the upper door hinge bolt holes and striker hole, then make extensions to any other reference point, such as seat holes, and bolt it up. Now unbolt at seat holes, chop out old, bolt new to the jig thingy, zap, done.

Sectioning the A pillar- if lower hinge location is OK just rusty I like to section the skin between lower hinge bolts and the inner below that but near it. Your process might become more clear if you were to go ahead and cut away what you want to replace. What might help is to nicely drill off the patch-to-be lower pillar skin section, then proceed with the inner structure conundrums knowing that after all is square and fitting, you have the skin piece to butt weld and cap it off. Would keep you from dancing around it maybe.

While tempting becase the wide open kick area is behind it, sectioning above the hinge opens a more jumbo size bucket of nightcrawlers so leave the lower hinge nut plate structure if you can. My .02. Now get horizontal, youtube a half century old radio western and "rest your eyes".

Matt, the current plan is to cut below the lower hinge pocket. There's no question that I agree with your statement. :)

This evening I mounted 2 new tires. There are 2 more in the shed that were mounted about 3 years ago but haven't been in the sun or used. I was going to use the tires on the cop car. After I removed the body and looked at them in the sun, that was the end of that idea. They have good tread but cracks all over. The cab is in the shop ready for the weekend. There's disassembly to do and then the floor swap. That sounded slick, didn't it. :) I'm cautiously optimistic. :)

End of the day at O&S and real tired. :) I blasted most areas that will be worked on. The floor was rough cut out and braces welded in. The 2 rust spots on the replacement  were started on. I have taken 3 scoop fulls of dirt and rust out today. That's after cleaning all of this several times before. I'm a little surprised. :)

Afternoon "I need a drink" break.
This morning I drilled out the other half of all the spotwelds. The cab is rough cut for all 4 corners. The replacement is rough cut. It's time to get serious without errors. :) My original plan wouldn't work so I had to find another area to cut the rear of the floor. I'm reasonably sure this will work and be weldable everywhere.

End of day. 2 more scoops of dirt. Where is that coming from??? Cab is on stands ready for final trimming. Too tired to proceed. :)

Will you drill screw it together first, or how do you do that?

The way you're doing it, it could actually be done never taking the doors off if a guy was so inclined and had seen this. Neat!
