I worked all day and accomplished 80% of my goals. :) The pics are of the crush tubes and top spacers welded, fitting the boxing plates, welded viewing from the bottom, the 2" drop front spring hanger and a shot of it back outside again. I wirebrushed most of the frame in preparation for the black coating I bought. I was planning on getting the frame notched for the fuel tank but ran out of physical primary forward motion. LOL

And just like that (snap)  it looks like a fast and new rod. How can it be? :?  Good visits must help. :)

Monday update at O&S. I wasn't sure there would be an update. There's a caster wheel under my rear. :) This is the parts that attach the lower control arms to the frame minus a brace that will make up for the angles difference. The pics are the brackets being marked, pilot holes drilled, milled and cut and Matched to there respective parts. It's a fabulous summer evening. I hope you all are enjoying it. :)

Tiny bit of progress. Even though it's still spring, it's summer here. I'm sweating and very happy. :) The lower control arm bushings have to be rotated on this conversion. In doing research, they rust in so and alternative method is needed to reuse the bushing. People are cutting the od of the bracket and rotating the bushing and welding the bracket back together. I performed the same procedure. The last pic is locating the fuel tank to see what will be necessary in fabrication. I had thought about notching a crossmember to allow the tank to mounted with flat straps on the rails. That will reduce the clearance between the bed and all the components of the fuel system to the point of being a problem. I have 2" tubing placed between the tank flange and the crossmember for a rough in. At this point, I believe this to be a better option.

Mid morning break. 2 thoughts: always do the worst 1st so your day gets better. 2nd: project creep. I was just going to wire brush the chassis and shoot the chassis black on it. The can says it covers almost everything. LOL There were areas that I couldn't get the tool in so I blasted most of it. Not 1st class but there's nothing loose left on it. I hope blasting is the worst item for the day. I wonder how much more this project might grow? Are the elves spreading miracle grow instead of helping???

End of the day at O&S. There's a couple of pics of the lower control arm brackets welded in place. When I was blasting this am, I attacked the rust repairs on the front fenders. I shot some of the chassis black on the inside for a sealer. The blind old guy shot the frame. It's more black than not. :)

That looks nice but I suspect prestidigitation. :)

^^^^^
You would be correct. :) Sometimes the hot chick across the room has more visible detractions up close.

Lunch break and planning stop. Today was something of assembly. Front end with out scratching fresh paint. All the bolts of the rear are 9/16". I bought a tap and hex die to rethread everything. The u-bolts start at 9/16" and shrink to less than an adequate dimension to thread to the same. I made spacers and washers to make up for the 1/2" lower leaf I removed from both spring packs. I found out when bolting on the rotors and spacers that the axle studs aren't long enough. The one pic is outside with the same height tires front and rear.

Today's update. Out of energy and brain power. I started trimming the replacement floor plan. I removed the firewall flange and the 2 rear cab corners. I'm trying to develop a plan that will produce the least amount of failure. :)

prestidigitation , why do I feel like I need to remove my computer filter to look up that term ?

It's easy Chimp......  It's a real big technical term for " Big Patch Panel"..... :?

Hey IDJ...Maybe you should try "One Piece" floor patch panels like KB does ..  :?:

Seems like a REAL time saver ...

I detect distinct jocular overtones in the prevalent vernacular hereabouts. :?

  What a sunshiny yellow place this is. :)

KB I am gonna rip a page straight out of my Branson stand-up act just like I did for Footloose aka chassis guy today. Do you remember when I reskinned a botched up 69 Camaro body (right after the yellow '68 )?

In my best John Belushi Samurai Sub Shop skit voice...

Save face, retain honor. Honorable frange stlip can be prug werd anywhere. You gotta 90? Blake a frange stlip, makea de holes, shrinky stretchy, save face. Attach part, retain honor.

Thats a loose suggestion, told even more loosely. It can help do things like this quick. But up at the firewall seam it really looks like the only shortcut potential is in overlapping a 3/4" or so stub of the old toe boards. If rust is in or above the flange, try to clean all the old toe board off the firewall. If the seam is OK, overlap just below it. From whichever side you wish, for best look and protectability.

My mental jump box needle says charge, too. I gotta fizzle out but maybe theres an idea in that. Show where you get hung up at if you do, I can usually spit out multiple methods after a good gander.

I'm talking like Festus which means tired. Hope you can make sense of all that.   If not, use Bob's IDJ decoder ring. :D I'll be standing by desperately hoping to pick up some new KB hat-rabbit tricks like how to find clean floor pans in 2018.
