So... Anyone...how is a Nomad different from a sedan delivery? Like does a Nomad use coupe doors but a delivery uses sedan doors? Would a Nomad be coupe wheelbase then? My version of research is asking here. Looks icy outside so I just googled Vega wagon images. :)

Matt, I think Nomad's use their own unique doors.  My '58 wagon doors are unique to wagons...sedan doors are different in the window area. That's all I know.

55 nomad is the only one with radiused rear wheel wells, I think. :)

Well I mean like if you disregard window frames and figure just door skins, I'm thinking there is probably just two sizes in a given year.

Overlaying images would tell me that and answer the wheelbase question. A stumbling block is that so far, to match proportions on different images I have referenced the door handle. Vega/Monza H bodies use the lift type handle like F body. I like the H roofline but it may be too small. In that case I'd reach for A body wagon roofs, 73-7 or 78-87. Or stretch out the Vega lid. But I'd rather not start using wheels as the proportional reference point, although that is probably accurate to a similar degree.

Just now heard something drop from the idea machine, wait up.... Ha! I like this one... 73 Camino delivery. Or Caminomad. Ponder that, it might be a winner if you liked Smog Camino looks with a topper.

So far I noticed that H body and X body doors, aside from handles and possibly dimensions, bear a striking resemblance to one another. Wondered for a moment if 75-9 X body shared doors with H bodies. And I remembered I should be saying Astre instead of Vega/Monza.

Only hassle doing this is its a file transfer circus that I dread. Gotta have all devices fired up and fling a flash drive around like a switchboard operator. Mom wants me to color some pics for the refrigerator too. :) But I'm cozy and errands are done... and its cold but peaceful. Ah.

Anyone spawn other potentially feasible fictitious vehicle ideas after seeing what we're up to here? Rev your minds. 8)

Extended cab fleetside T ranchero . Shorter rear side windows than a coupe and a bit more wheel base  with the sedan curvature at the back . Box height at the top of the side reveal . The Stepside one I have seen was done well but used the coupe side windows full sized . cab looked a little long . I suppose a guy could use fordor front doors and the original coupe rear side glass to shorten the cab a bit too . Would not take too much coaxing to get me started once the coupe is done .

UGLY OLDS

Remember ....Chevy used the model name "Nomad" for the entry level ,( Cheep), Chevelle wagons from 68-72ish...Strippo cars with almost no trim ...My friends '69 even had rubber mats.. Bad thing was that they were ALL  4-Doors ....  :(

Having bought a '74 Ford Ranchero new, ( My first & ONLY new car),  I will say that it was the most useless vehicle that I have EVER owned .....Too light in the back end ,absolutely no cargo weight capacity ,required pick-up registration with NONE of the pick-up benefits ..( That got the Mrs. a ticket once ...Traveling on a "no-truck" street..Her argument that it was really a car did not amuse the cop OR the judge..)

I got nailed for "improperly aimed headlights" at every state safety inspection....Always too low & $25.00 to correct and NO...They would NOT let you correct it .It HAD to be corrected by the safety lane $$$$$
All you had to do was sit on the tailgate to simulate a load & the lights would the test too "high" ....

The spare tire was located flat under the bed behind the passengers seat & almost IMPOSSIBLE to remove ... :?

Almost useless to tow racecar trailers...Almost useless to tow anything ,really ....

I could go on & on ....Did I mention how much I REALLY "liked" that car  :?:

Javelin 71-74  would make an interesting study . Sail panels lend themselves to a nice roof line on a camino / ranchero type of build . Do rambler / gremlin /matador doors look similar? shorten the door opening with 4dr fronts to shorten the roof line if the sheet metal is similar . The 70s javelin already has flareside type rear fenders .

This has no bearing on your question, but once I had an '86 Olds Cutlass Sierra (IIRC), and it was a real rust bucket. Every time I'd close any of the four doors, there would be a pile of rust on the ground. It was brown, and I got 4 green doors of the same year Buick at the salvage yard that fit perfectly. That was quite a sight.

A T? Wow. Chopped or no? That sounds wild. Interesting, hmm. I appreciate your participation in this dream world. :D

My friend took his first car to the crusher recently, it was one of those. There was lots of swapability on them. Brown and green together is a natural though, its Mother Nature's  choice.

All true. I'll have to look. So far your T idea is ahead. Dukes Chargers would also lend themselves I think. Grand Prixs just do not!

I bet you don't order Huevos Rancheros do ya? Yeah these imaginary mermaids of the road would be useless to anyone needing a truck. 'Cept me, I hauled 2 Pontiac V8s a short ways and no officers molested my headlight adjustment. Which was one lamp digging ditches and the other hunting squirrels. My junk was originally equipped with air shocks and cushy coils. If I recall right, owner's manual max load was 775 lbs and title said pickup. Your dislikes are all valid and honestly I nearly bought one too, long ago. Liked the looks of it. The ones a few years prior are wicked looking. You go on grumping but keep it to a dull roar now... tug on my shirt sleeve if you have to go let an idea out. I better get bizzy.

Fatcat did a V8 powered 82 Escort sedan delivery. It is still not done, but it's probably the only no rust 82 Escort wagon in the state of Ohio. He used two door sedan doors, and most of the rear quarters. The sides were filled on using the window area of a Dodge van.

64 and 65 Chevelle had a two door wagon based on the Elcamino with a roof instead of a bed.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

Hot off the easel... this idea struck me when looking at Nomad thumbnails. Might have been a hit.
