I do like that one. I've long been a fan of the Rancheros and El Caminos. A lot of people outside the car guy cult make fun of them and I think that's entirely unfair.

The way I see it they beat a small regular cab pickup in comfort and style, and even if a little truck is an extended cab theres the which would you rather be caught driving aspect. If, for example, a guy has an apartment with one parking spot he can still haul the mail and be cool.

For the size of it I think the rear wheels are too close to the back edge of the doors. If you could find some place that has a yard full of them wrecked maybe you could cut a couple of them in half so that there was enough  body, roof and floor to put them back together as a cab+1/2. You could weld them back together and it probably wouldn't take more than 1/2" of "mud" to smooth the edges. A longer driveshaft and splices for the wires, fuel and brake lines you'd have it done. If you were lucky you could find two "donors" that were the same color. GPster

GPster, that was a great reply. Here is more food for thought thats right up enjenjo's alley and spawns GM thoughts on my end. Thanks waynep

Believe it or not this is a model produced by one of the big three. No custom work. So Identify it. :lol:

Looks Maverick or Mustang II based.

Comet. It makes you vomit! It makes your teeth turn green... :mrgreen:

That or Maverick. That back looks kinda funky don't it? The four doors did look awkward which is suprising because the coupes look so good.

Aw, I see. This brings up the question of two door Maverick wagon. :idea:  :-}

It's a 77 Maverick wagon factory built in Brazil by Ford. It had a 2.3 OHC motor in it.

... and would be a lot cooler with less doors. :idea:

Well, I'll be. I thought this version was almost together-looking but response to it elsewhere is 100% negative! Swing and a miss. :roll:  But thats the value of photo editing. :)

Unfortunately, as far as I can tell... that build would generate frowns only. :(

I was thinking that maybe it would look best with just the door glass and no other side windows . Kind of like a 30/31 model A closed cab truck with a curve behind the doors like a coupe or sedan . THEN continue down the sides with the fleetside look , a little stretch of the wheelbase , and a little more box length behind the rear fenders just to put the bottom of the box out past where the back of the fender meets the body.

"A curve behind the doors" lost me... horizontal, vertical, what? Do you mean where body width is reduced behind the passenger area? I thought the idea was no separation of cab and bed, and to have an extended cab type window.

I looked at the closed cab pickup roof just now, with the curved top rear. Did not know any T had curved metal there. I did add wheelbase, just enough to help proportions. I also brought the bed floor out past where the fenders connect.

I lack enthusiasm for further pursuit of this one. No longer curious because it is generally disliked or even opposed. Didn't see that coming! I thought it was a decent idea myself.

I showed the purple pic to Big Mike and ooooh... the curved line... that makes it look like a T... low, between door and rear wheel... that! Yessirs, it needs that in some form. Bead, bulge, something to define the "bucket" where you sit. That plus the only radiused window corner should be at bottom rear just above that. In the door or extended cab window, whichever is at rear. The years they made both Ts and As mess me up, theres so many cobbled variants, wow! Anyhow, I may go another round next time it rains on a day off or whatever. I do still sort of want to see a two door Grabber wagon too. ~:)
