Tandems are for trailers. Thats one of the least ugly Mercedes though.

The Rambler one has me wondering about the quarter.

Oh yeah, I was gonna try a Mach Ranch, wasn't I?

Since German cars wandered in... I learned to drive in a 72 2002, hmm. Something like that would need tandems to haul a 460 long block across town.

The Merc wouldn't look good either way, something is just off.

The Amsassador  should've left off the 1/4 window. It looks too busy. Just my opinion.

How about a Fox rear quarters and tailgate on a Mustang II?  GPster

Just threw an hour or so at this. I don't think the Mustang nose will work on a Futura or Durango. Their windshield angle is laid back way more and hood sits like a third of the way up the windshield if you line up door gap, character lines, and lamps. Roof and belt line are lower. Thats as far as I can tell, because I did not find a pic of a Durango from the identical angle as your Stang nosed wagon. Just close, but not quite enough.

So add mixing pics not from same angle to the can't do list along with color changing. I did not foresee a difference in cowl height until overlaying pics and I am thinking it might be a deal breaker in reality. The horse face probably does help that wagon but boy I bet it makes people go what the heck, from the front.

Maybe another day will contain gumption to try again with a Futura pic. :?

I'll see that and raise you Mustang II front end on Pinto wagon.

But if a guy builds a Mustang II, what kinda front end should he swap in?  :?:

I kinda liked the LTD II front end on a Futura, that I thought I saw. Hey, wait... how does that work and not Mustang? Um. Its a weeknight, no more time to goof off so I'll have to come back to it later.

That search supports my theory, there was no Mustang noses on Futuras, only plain Fairmonts. They look good on LTDs though. I did see a Fox Mustang, Ranchero'ed. Had the Mach 1 on my screen yesterday briefly and that would need more wheelbase to do anything useful so I aborted that as well. I would probably have to park a regular Fairmont next to a Fairmont Futura to pinpoint the differences. But the roof angles are mighty different as far as I can tell from here at the moment.  :(

Guys, am I seeing a different windshield angle there? Optical illusion? Anybody else see it?

Was there a Mustang nose on a Futura but I missed it?

I like the eight wheeled car in the background. My Hollander says the front fenders and hood interchange from the Fairmont to the Futura.

O yea, I should have thought of that. I have a '78 book.  I did a double take on that little car too.

I have to find pics on a phone screen. Can't see what I find full size until I take the cover off my phone, insert USB drive with adapter, transfer the file to it, transfer that to the PC, THEN I get to look. Then edit. Then same dance to get it back to the phone and upload it. Then over to the tablet to post it to avoid spending a half hour correcting typos on a five minute thing because the soft keys are too small and my fingers are usually numb which doesn't help. So if any interested parties here can assist in locating pictures of a Durango and Mustang from the exact same angle and preferrably the same color, in decent resolution... that would be a start. If the angle is not exact, it won't work. Changes too many things. I can deal with size difference. Failing  that, put on your sombreros (not hubcaps) and settle in for a siesta until I have time, inclination, and wherewithall. :)
