Monday:  Re torqued the heads and hooked everything up. Fired it up again and it sounds good.  The Data Recorder needs to be installed. That thing gives me more head acks.  It is such a good tuning tool it's worth the trouble.

On another note there is Old Time Drags at Mo-Kan this Sat. You'll come on down and see and participate in great racing the old way

Fri: I  finished putting the extra weight in the car, 850 lbs should help with the traction.  I will put the Data Recorder in next work day. I am sure it will take me several days to have every thing working right.  I hope that next Fri. I'll be able to take it to the Tulsa drag strip and make a pass or two in order to see where the fuel ratio and the EGT's are at with a lot of peddle in it.

Maybe this will complicate things. The weather in Ohio is not like Oklahoma, Texas or Utah. Wilmington is not that far from the Ohio River. Maybe some of the data here would be helpful for setting up the engine's computor. I got to thinking this and I noticed that the National Weather Service has a station (?) in Wilmington and maybe their data would be helpful to you. GPster

Thanks GPster I'll look that up so I can figure that in the mix.

Thanks for all the updates Hooley.  You've been a busy buckaroo this spring.  I've made room reservations and plan to be there Friday PM thru Sunday.  It will be good to see y'all.

Have fun at Mokan today.  I see rain predicted for Joplin.  Hope it missed you.

George,
The drags were called off because of rain so we went down to John's and hung around for a while. His bro Sam was there also.

Time is counting down till Ohio. It will be good to see you. It has been a while.

GPster,
I have started watching the air conditions at Wilmington.  The thing that I watch is the corrected or adjusted altitude.  This morning Wilmington was 1322 ft and Tulsa was 785 ft.  Only 400 ft difference. That isn't much.
I'll check it for a few days and more often the closer we get to run time.

I added 850# in front of the rear tires for more traction.
Ran the engine yesterday to warm it up and set the valves. All is good.
I have started on the electronics too be stopped right off the bat with a broken O2 sensor.  I will find one today.

We are hoping to have every thing going by Fri 13th and take it to Tulsa Drag Strip to get some wide open throttle readings on the recorder. That will help with the tuning for Ohio.

Wed. 4/11/12    Weather is for rain today and into the week-end. That will mess up trying to go to the track for some data.  I had to order a O2 sensor , I am hoping it comes in today so there will be day to get all of it  working.
The belly pan is going on today and putting the car on the floor. I bought a new aluminum steering wheel for 974 yesterday . Something New.

Fri. 13th.  Changed the oil added a new filter, put the belly pan on and set it on the ground.  I was all ready to go to the drag strip and the rains came. No test today. Maybe next week.
The O2 sensor came in , hooked it up and every thing worked. All of the electronics worked I couldn't believe it.

You should leave OK cuz that's a dangerous place to live. The nicest thing I found about OK was seeing it in my rearview mirror.
If a blind person wears sunglasses, why doesn\'t a deaf person wear earmuffs??

I hear you Parklane , Life has it's risks. I am more afraid of Bears than tornado. Oh no, both can sneak up on you while you sleep.  Not good, not good.  The weather has been rough the last couple of years.  A lot of folks killed or hurt and lost property.

Parklane,
We're having some earth quacks too. They are mostly in the center of the state but I have felt some up here in the north east corner.

974 is ready to go . Just have to put the front on. I am still going to try to go to the strip this Fri. evening to get some data.

Not much going on right now with the car. I been sorting tools and other things that need to be packed in or on.  There is a tattle-tale boost guage that doesn't hold pressure, so I took the dash out to fix it. The check valve was bad. Ordered one and should have it Fri or Sat. Won't take long to put it in.

I am hoping the weather holds good for fri. night Test and Tune so to get a pass at the track and gather some data.
I think this is the first time that I have been ready to go before it was time.  This retirement is real good, REAL GOOD.
