I'd like to verify, the racing takes place on both Friday and Saturday, the 27th and 28th?

Sorry about the dates, we set up the pit on Fri. Racing on Sat and Sun.
The pits aren't like setting up at Bonneville.  Find a spot unload and put up an Ez-UP and we're there.

Fri Apr. 27 2012   Set up pit.
Sat Apr. 28          Race
Sun Apr. 29         Race take down pit and head home after a week-end of fun
                         and friends.

one thing that i brought up for the texas mile.. how lumpy is the racing surface???

has anybody driven the course..   perhaps a ride along with the FOD squad as they check the runway ... since there are racers who live not so far away...

this is just a thought..

since the race course is next to the pits..  as it looks like the pits are on  a parallel  taxi way..  how many have a decent video camera.. that they could set up/clamp down a tripod on the top of their Rv or trailer. so a decent digital recording might be made of the runs..   even setting up one of those 4 channel security DVR/ camera setups they sell at costco..  using an inverter and several large automotive batteries to run it..

again.. just a thought.. i have not made it to any racing event in a long time..   the GNRS is this weekend in pomona.. and the winternationals are next week or the week after.. again in pomona.. only a 35 miles trip.. i just always end up having to fix something on the days i plan on going..

The surface is supposed to be relatively new,
and smooth, compared to Maxton.

I will post a short update.  Hooley will probably expand on my information soon.  Hooley and I both have been a little under the weather, so to speak.  It has been what is called a common cold but I do not know what that really is.  I assure you that Hooley and I do not think it was very common.

Hooley told me that he has everthing ready to assemble the engine and get it back into the car.  He had some delays getting the machine work done correctly.  He should be able to get everything done on schedule.

Updates to follow.

Most people have a higher than average number of legs.

Still taking pills to get better.
I am waiting for the rings, bearings, gaskets and etc to come in. It should be Tues/tomorrow .  Then we will be putting the engine together. I figure about a week to get it together and in the car. There isn't much to do to the car to have it ready. Maybe this year we'll have some time to test it before we go to OHIO.

Today I got the short block together.  I had to order new valve springs, the old ones were real week.  They should be in by Monday.  Also found a bad bearing in the front crank support. Ordered one from RCD today. Things are moving right along.

WED. The springs are in all valves except 2 where shims are needed.   I had to go to Tulsa to get some spring shims yesterday.  Today should have the engine all together and ready to go in the car. Will report later.

Wed.   The engine is together and ready to go in the car.  The front support bearing came in but was the wrong size. Reordered the correct one.  My fault, didn't measure.

After lunch I'll start putting the engine in the car.

Today [Wed] I got the right bearing in for the front crank support and installed it.  I am hooking the things up to the engine that will make it run. It should be ran this week-end. Then pull the headers and retorque the heads then hook every thing up to go.

SAT. March 31    The engine lives and sounds great.  Ran it till the heads had some heat and will let it cool till Mon.  Re torque the heads , new set of plugs, set timing and check things over. Almost ready for the Ohio Mile.
       It was a good day.
