IDJ could you possibly use allen head bolts with a sleeve over them to set the height of the striker pin .

Between latch and door? I suppose so but prefer having latch against door for strength. It is currently attached with the allen heads provided. No SS quarter-twenty bolts were provided for striker brkt so those are on with plain bin bolts.

I was about to put the hood on when our hero popped in to see his truck. Boy he is over the moon, head over heels for it. :)

Multi-purpose ride...  Fresh flowers on mom's grave.

Testing the Goldwing for vibrations with new front tire. I ran the bike to the speed limiter and all was good.  8)

Weather here has been very goofy. It was 93*F when I was out on the bike.  Then clouds roll in, rain happens. It has rained 3 evenings in a row. Strong wind too. Its like the monsoon season is here and its not?  Weird

When my brother died, I was no longer executor, and it was cheaper to let his daughters take over the selling of his house (great lawyer handling this).  The closing was supposed to be yesterday, but the buyer wanted a two week extension for financing problems. The grass hadn't been cut at all this year, but it wasn't growing when we had the sale.  The realtor got a notice from the city that the grass was over 8" tall and needed to be cut.

I loaded up the 25hp JD and headed up there yesterday.  *...the grass/weeds were almost 2' tall.  I started mowing it at 4" then 5", then as tall as I could.  Was taking forever, and after talking with two neighbors, just started mowing as fast as I could without bogging the mower.  They said to just mow it and don't worry about what it looks like, so I did.  Looks like crap, but it's good enough to get by for the height.  Closing WILL be next Friday, according to both lawyers involved with the sale.  If the closing HAD been yesterday, we could've gotten by.  Now, I have to remove the mower deck and reinstall the endloader, which I use around my place.  Fun times.

Took a fair amount of recollecting all that was done to make a hood gap that works but it did not elude me today. A week from now it will be home. :)

Thanks Phil. When it rains it pours, don't it? That mowing episode was a suck deal, wow. It could have been blazing August heat though. Still, its all the stuff that is or might be lurking in the grass wanting to ride home with you that makes it fun times. I mowed other night out back and woulda swore that same rat snake was killed where I just push mowed a path. But then when I came out with the string trimmer it had vamoosed. Critters. I may be sitting on a hatchery. :)

Every year long about this time I hanker to do a mower build. Old enough to need it now because now I think I'd make it quiet. :)  Seeing some electric push mowers around now.

Quik project on the stairs I recently re-carpeted.

There are 4 wood spikes nailed to the bottom of the stairs. These keep the cheap oriented strand board up off the concrete and water if rain get on the carport.

I bought some cedar wood fence pickets and replace the wood spikes as the photos show.

Matt, congrats on the pay increase. :) These are pics of the bear claws that O&S uses. You have to fabricate all of the linkage that is needed to operate them. I believe these are the larger versions of what you are showing.

I'd say that ^^^ is a fair assessment of the two setups. :)  Only one claw on the smalls. More of a hangnail but the kit comes with what we got and set up just for that. It appears theres a durability oversight with many suggested latches, IMHO.

I dig the two striker lengths in a bare bones set.

Makes sense to me, application willing of course, that the striker ought to reach clear through the latch. Leastwise that'd be my thought in a case of large latches. Smalls in the 56 would accomodate that just like yours but for example on a 69 GP theres a back wall to the latch and no pneumonia wind hole. Everything cannot operate like a P O N T I A C though.  :)

On Bill trucks, function is king. I adore function. Form is invariably the route taken at the old truck candy shop. Meh. Gimmie heft, bulk, strength. Closing door with pinky push is mandatory.  ::)

So... what is it you're doing? Hanging a deuce shell on kb rails with a clotheslined cab mit der zoomies, kompressor, und big balonies? Bed optional. Man if you had a model A trunk lid you could rumble that thing somehow.

Had the Stude truck profile up on pc screen other day. Builder is pondering smooth boards going under fenders. And after my heart because I thought same about the 51 F-1 5.0 and like that design. But Studes had freestanding boards ugly enough to make a freight train take a dirt road.

Before dismissing freestanding boards, fiberglass or fab-o-steel, I pictured a tapered shape. Not the outside edge, keep that straight but pretty much have an airplane wing profile only flat on bottom. In my mind it played magic with the fender profile contours and seemed trick. Easiest thing to do is buy smooth boards long enough and tuck em under fender bobs. Just sharing the "airfoil" (?) shape thought. For thinkers. :)

I'm beat from yard work. Dad turned 86 today, driving back from KS. He is a mighty man.  8)

Oh and thanks kb on the raise comment. I never, ever ask. Pay thoughts are best forgotten but that'll charge my batteries for a spell. Due diligence is my path. Sometimes roundabout but mildly eventually effective approach. Food prices are forcing the issues for many so I am glad I've "put work in" all along. All a guy has to do is stay, head down, and avoid mistakes / entangling alliances. Pretty much everywhere I been, showing up and doing work is exceptional.

Milestone day? I guess.  Today my wife Janice and I have been married 50 years.  I am not sure why she puts up me.  I am glad she does.

Also:  We moved the RV out of storage. In the process of loading , cleaning , checking, modifying the RV for a road trip this weekend

Buttoned up the 56 job, at least the current phase. Back on the 68 cab now. Boss passed out bonuses, crew praise, and gave us all four straight days off. :)
