Hey Matt, I've decided to go with the original color of Cream.  Will order the paint soon, just to have it before the prices go sky high next year.

Don't believe what State Farm tells you. Or anyone. I worked at a factory for 40 years, and one time there was a rumor of a layoff coming up.  We had a meeting on Friday with management assuring us there was no layoff in the works.  Guess what?  Monday comes and there was a layoff.  Yeah, that happened overnight. For me, their credibility went down the tubes after that, forevermore.  One other time, we had a catered lunch brought in for a safety award lunch, and just over 30 of us got food poisoning and missed a couple days work each.

Before I got married 16 years ago, I had Country Companies for my insurance, my new wife used State Farm.  We switched to State Farm for everything.  They've been pretty good over the years with our claims on the house after storms, but we had a large storm in August that downed a lot of trees and ruined our roof.  Twenty thousand to repair/replace the roof and they paid the first half and would pay the second half after completion.  Well, it was completed second week in October, and they still haven't paid.  I keep getting texts on my cell that they are going to call, and if I miss the call, to call a number.

I got another text today, so  I called our local agent and asked what the hell was going on.  He called my wife back later and said the office in Georgia has been calling a number  for us in a Chicago area code. We're a hundred miles away from Chicago.  Wonder why I wasn't getting the calls?

I hope everything works out for you there.  I forget which state you're in.

I worked on the drivers door of the Corvair today.  It's been sitting on a roll around table for a few months, waiting for me to sand the jambs and interior around where the interior panel goes. Yuk!  A lot of hand work.  I've got it sanded and taped up, and will primer it tomorrow.  I still have the door jamb to do on the car, but it's easier than the door.  This is the last of the major primering on the car. I've already hung the right side door and will have to take it off again when I decide what color I'm going to paint the car. Factory color was Capri Cream, then it was repainted something red, then started sanding for a repaint before I bought it.

I was leaning towards another color of red, and the metallic colors really pop, but I haven't painted a metallic total car since the early 80's, and it's something I'm not the best at (the dark blue VW bug came out well with only one small run, but the gold Chevy PU was awful).  Funny thing is, I've never seen another Cream colored Vair since I got this one, so I'm kind of leaning going original, plus it's a solid color, and no BC/CC.

Decisions, decisions.  I bought a dealer promo 67 Corvair that only comes in Capri Cream from an online auction last week.  Paying top dollar was bad enough, but the "tax, title and fees was terrible."  I've enclose a pic of the model on my living room carpet, in case I haven't before.  CRS, you know.

Don't buy the cheap plastic 3' panels, or the plastic rolls; they will melt. I finally went with the ones Costco sells and am quite happy. Tiny leaf stems will stick at the joint of the guard and gutter, but to me that's minor.  IIRC, they're guaranteed for like 25 years.  It cost me around $350 years ago.

My older brother went with the curved leaf gutters installed on his house, and it cost him around $6,000.  He was happy with the way they worked.  His eave length was much shorter than mine, but his cost involved them R&Ring his old gutters and installing new.

The tv shows are all so phony, I can't stand to watch them even for a few minutes when I'm in the waiting room at the doctors office.  The home show:  she volunteers at the animal shelter, he works part time at a convenient store and they just bought a $250,000 home and want to spend another $250,000 completely changing it. What?? Yeah, right.

"Oh well : 1 door closes , another door opens."

Tony, I just saw that the other day in a car ad.  One door closes, another door opens.  Other than that, the car is pretty good. ;D

Well, John, you fixed your fender, and I fixed the hole in the dining room wall where the phone used to be.  Would've been an odd place for a fake light switch, ck.

We bought new phones for the landline in the house and outbuildings (dam expensive off Amazon).  The old base unit was getting hard to understand the messages. This house was built in 1979 and the phone 'hanger' was positioned high on the dining room wall for the old style dial wall phones. The new phones have a wall mount that makes it hard to see the led lights for messages, etc., so I decided to lower the base mount.  Now I have a 1 1/8" hole to patch and clean up.  Did I mention that I don't like doing plaster work?

Tony, just for reference, my shop is 24x40, just 960 square feet, and I have a 75,000 btu heater that does well even with the low insulation in the walls.

I'm assuming that natural gas heater you have is vented to the outside.  I had a non vented propane heater in my last 24x24 garage that put a lot of moisture in the air and rusted things.

They came and pumped the 120 tank to the new 500 tank that they dropped in the yard by the shop. Then moved the 120 aside and went and picked up the old 500, full, and moved it to the shop, all 2800 pounds of it.  It made some dents in the yard, but they'll work their way out (I rolled them later and they're better, but still there).  Then they moved the new tank by the house and ran a second line to where the gennie is going to be.  The fill truck came later while we were gone and filled the new tank.

I had asked the two guys how much I could sell the small tank for, and they both agreed that they usually go for $1 per gallon capacity.  Okay, so I advertised it for $250 and sold it yesterday for $225.  The buyer came and had me use my little tractor with small endloader to load it in his F250.

Tony, my shop only has 1 1/2" styrofoam insulation in the walls, and the walls are finished; I can't go any deeper.  The ceilings are over 6" so I'm good there.  There are only a few times that I have to keep the shop heated for more than one day, and that would pull that 120 down pretty quickly, so the 500 should help me in that department.

I always liked the grounding plug on the bottom.  Oh no, Mr. Bill...

Wow, Bill, how would you do bodywork on that car?

Good luck with getting your hearing aid fixed, Tony. Mine are all out of whack, and I don't want to go back to the VA to have them adjusted.  They just don't listen to me when I tell them what's wrong.  I need to find an 'old' audiologist to adjust them for me.

My local propane supplier called me this am and said that they can come and install a new 500 gallon tank for me this morning, and move my present 500 gallon tank to my shop to replace the 120 gallon tank there.  I own both my tanks, but buy all my gas from them, so I'm not worried about having their tank at the house.  I figured a newer tank at the house would be a good selling point when the time comes, plus it is supposed to have wifi capabilities to notify them when it gets low. We're having a backup gennie installed January 2nd, so they will install the piping for that also.  It will be in the 50's today, so a nice day to do outside work.

$2.99.9 at Costco this morning.  Lowest in this area.  I paid $2.59.9 at Costco in Iowa last Friday.  Iowa is always lower than Illinois.

I was in the shop polishing some metal with the buffing wheels on the pedestal motor when sparks flew out of the outlet. Whoops. Looks like the old motor gave up the ghost.  I could mount the newer grinder motor, but it has shorter shafts, so I looked on Harbor Freight, and apparently, they quit selling them. Checked Craig's List tool section, and the very first ad was posted six hours ago for a HF buffer motor for $50.  I emailed and asked if he's available tomorrow. If he is, I think I'll stop by HF and get a couple new buffing wheels too.

I changed the outlets in the kitchen today to the newer style, mainly because I'm updating our house to code for when we sell it in the far future. We have outlets on both sides of the sink without the gfic outlets, so I changed them all so they'd match. Each of the outlets are on separate circuits, so I needed two.  I'd already done the ones in the main bathroom years ago; again, outlets on both sides, and both on different circuits.

When we had the kitchen remodeled this year, the range hood needed a larger exhaust vent, so we had it put through the roof like it should've been done 45 years ago, instead of into the attic.  Same thing with the bathroom vent when the roof was replaced last month after a storm went through in August.  I've lived here 16 years, just takes me a while to catch up.
