Rain Gutter Screens ?

You folks in colder , wet country..  Are gutter screens helpful or another mess created ?

We have millions of leaves that blow in here. Into the gutters it seems

Don't buy the cheap plastic 3' panels, or the plastic rolls; they will melt. I finally went with the ones Costco sells and am quite happy. Tiny leaf stems will stick at the joint of the guard and gutter, but to me that's minor.  IIRC, they're guaranteed for like 25 years.  It cost me around $350 years ago.

My older brother went with the curved leaf gutters installed on his house, and it cost him around $6,000.  He was happy with the way they worked.  His eave length was much shorter than mine, but his cost involved them R&Ring his old gutters and installing new.

After several misfires I installed the wire mesh ones sold at Lowes, they slip under the shingle & clip over the edge of the gutter althou I did run a self driller screw into the gutter where I overlapped the ends. My home place is heavily wooded, lots of oak trees, I am well pleased.

thanks for the information guys...  For a  quik temporary fix?  I got a few of those screen thingys that insert into the opening for the down spout.  I will check Lowes , see what I find when I have time.  LOL

I cleaned the leafs out again with my leaf blower while on a ladder.  It was strong wind here ALL day.  Suppose to rain monday here.  That will likely change too.

Saturday I did add a downspout on the front gutter (3 downspouts now) .  That south end was trying to fall off the house too.  I could see where heavy water had bent the gutter, pulled screws out , missing mount brackets,  etc.  Wonder where the brackets went? Birds is not likely the reason?

When I did screens at the top of the downspouts I found the main advantage to be that the gutter is easier to clear than the bends in the downspouts. Those elbows can be a bear to clean out, since the leaves pack so tight and access is so poor.
