In the last 52 years , the design of 3 and 4 way light switches in houses has changed?

I have changed the old worn out 3 way switches and the wire configuration is a bit different.  Frustrating is a word..  I had one 4 way switch setup.. ?  3 switches operate a set of hallway lights.  WIre diagrams I found online were wrong.  I used Leviton brand switches and finally found a diagram on their website.  I swapped wires around a bit.. specially at the last switch that feeds the lights power was different.  Success finally. after an hour and change.

I have swapped new wall switches on two 3 way systems Last week and then the  4 way system this evening.  I have 2 more 3 way  systems to swap out worn out switches.  I may understand this stuff (nope) yet ?

I worked on the drivers door of the Corvair today.  It's been sitting on a roll around table for a few months, waiting for me to sand the jambs and interior around where the interior panel goes. Yuk!  A lot of hand work.  I've got it sanded and taped up, and will primer it tomorrow.  I still have the door jamb to do on the car, but it's easier than the door.  This is the last of the major primering on the car. I've already hung the right side door and will have to take it off again when I decide what color I'm going to paint the car. Factory color was Capri Cream, then it was repainted something red, then started sanding for a repaint before I bought it.

I was leaning towards another color of red, and the metallic colors really pop, but I haven't painted a metallic total car since the early 80's, and it's something I'm not the best at (the dark blue VW bug came out well with only one small run, but the gold Chevy PU was awful).  Funny thing is, I've never seen another Cream colored Vair since I got this one, so I'm kind of leaning going original, plus it's a solid color, and no BC/CC.

Decisions, decisions.  I bought a dealer promo 67 Corvair that only comes in Capri Cream from an online auction last week.  Paying top dollar was bad enough, but the "tax, title and fees was terrible."  I've enclose a pic of the model on my living room carpet, in case I haven't before.  CRS, you know.

Cream color should be forgiving and look right at home.

My insurance guy says my home insurer is not leaving my state, as several news articles indicate. What can be believed, from anyone? Everything is lies and I'd be (even more) foolish if I didn't keep my guard up. I was given no explanation. Just have to dispose of the parts car then undergo a review. Since my home has had zero updates in a quarter century I anticipate large expenses will be required to meet their qualifications and that my premiums will redouble previous redoublings to a point where it is more than the mortgage and health insurance combined. Work until death. Might require two jobs to stay afloat. Doom yet lingers. Media serves to mislead us all, always.

went to a speed shop today  to get a woodruff key for the crank sprocket for a timing chain on a sbc . WOW $45 . Did not buy it as I will make sure I dont already have one . Speed shop owner was surprized at the price too . Have known him for years . we looked it up and similar pricing at summit. Makes me think sbc is considered obsolete?

Hey Matt, I've decided to go with the original color of Cream.  Will order the paint soon, just to have it before the prices go sky high next year.

Don't believe what State Farm tells you. Or anyone. I worked at a factory for 40 years, and one time there was a rumor of a layoff coming up.  We had a meeting on Friday with management assuring us there was no layoff in the works.  Guess what?  Monday comes and there was a layoff.  Yeah, that happened overnight. For me, their credibility went down the tubes after that, forevermore.  One other time, we had a catered lunch brought in for a safety award lunch, and just over 30 of us got food poisoning and missed a couple days work each.

Before I got married 16 years ago, I had Country Companies for my insurance, my new wife used State Farm.  We switched to State Farm for everything.  They've been pretty good over the years with our claims on the house after storms, but we had a large storm in August that downed a lot of trees and ruined our roof.  Twenty thousand to repair/replace the roof and they paid the first half and would pay the second half after completion.  Well, it was completed second week in October, and they still haven't paid.  I keep getting texts on my cell that they are going to call, and if I miss the call, to call a number.

I got another text today, so  I called our local agent and asked what the hell was going on.  He called my wife back later and said the office in Georgia has been calling a number  for us in a Chicago area code. We're a hundred miles away from Chicago.  Wonder why I wasn't getting the calls?

I hope everything works out for you there.  I forget which state you're in.

More wacky tracking for package from Amazon, on UPS ...

Package left Haslet TX shipper , arrived Phoenix AZ.. Then tracking shows it just left the shipper and was at DFW airport? Next stop?  Ontario CA.  THis wednesday morning it arrived in Phoenix AZ.  Some type of cross pollination happened in the tracking ?

Amazon tells me the package will arrive december 4th, UPS says the package will arrive today 27th.

I ordered this item on the 21st  in an attempt to avoid probrlem with thanksgiving day week.

Phil: we've had old phone number problems with a Chase account bank card and REAL bad problems with Directv SAT service !

We lived in Gilbert AZ.. Directv contractor pulled up next to our driveway.  We could see the vehicle and "Directv contractor" sign on the door. 2 minutes later he drives off. My wife calls Directv. She is told we were not home, contractor called , wrong phone number. The phone number Directv gave my wife had been deleted 10 yrs earlier. It was our old landline number.  It was Not the first time DIrectv did this with the old landline number.

Phil, it's Arkansas. Not believing what anyone says would include you and me. Do you believe I live in Arkansas? Do I believe you ever had even one Corvair? Etc. I had two employers stiff me for 3 weeks pay by disappearing. By the time I was twenty. Today, nobody is even willing to do the search I did- "is state farm leaving arkansas" then read the articles I read. Every person alive would rather dismiss than believe me so what I say is pure lies. Nothing anyone says is true. You are all liars.

See? Thats how that feels. If an SBC intake says firing order 18436572, do we make up our own firing order to prove that's a lie? No, we trust it and our engines run.

So trust me when I say you can't trust a word I say. Because I believe some Canadian speed shop wants over $20 for a crank key that costs seventy cents in Ohio. All my bodywork pics over the last decade or two were AI generated, of course. Never done a lick of work in real life. Hell I don't really exist, it has all been a simulation.

If you believe that... hey I have some Missourri oceanfront property I'll make you a great deal on. :)

Theres them who don't lie and them who don't believe and everything in between. Mistakes can actually be mistakes. One thing I know for a fact is that some will accept a bodywork flaw just to avoid considering solutions that day, then a thousand days later deem it unaccepable and hold you responsible for them having approved of it to begin with. Man's poor memory is an intentionally installed feature which perpetuates our foolishness.

Yep, the world is a back stabbing contest. One must read between the lies. Help is not on the way.
January 17, 2015 is the day I lost all credibility to a kid in a Ranger. I have not been believed about anything since 5:15 PM that day. I would hate for any of you to truly be subjected to that. It ruins your life. I know this to be fact and have sadly come to accept it.

Nothing is truer than lies. Just lay down and take it because thats all there is. Truth is fictional. In order to sustain one's existence, acting as though you support a chosen lie is required. No one is at fault, responsibility is just a hot potato and love is the greatest lie of them all. Plausible denial must be upheld at any cost. And here we are, spewing complete BS.  It is all anyone can know.

I saw the jeggs price when looking after I posted . I think Brians counter man who I am sure is an expert with ricers and turbos probably saw one of those offset keys for advancing the cam and thats where the price came from . those  keys are pricey and converted to cdn dollars are ridiculous . Our dollaris taking a dive since Trump warned of 25% tariffs on cdn and mexican goods to US . Likely will not be planning  any purchases cross border with a weak dollar .

CK, I can believe that. ;)

A Pontiac job went home yesterday. Believe it or not, it is a piece of crap.

I replaced the front tire on the dr650 today. The narrow tires take some effort to get the inner tube in. The old tire was installed in 2016. I had been riding out in the country a few weeks ago. The stickers got the inner tube. :) Because of the age of the tire, I replaced both. The inner tube was newer but unless they get more expensive, I'm going to replace instead of patching. That being said, in 2010 I purchased 2 tires and tubes for just a little less than one tire and tube cost now. :) I've owned this bike for 20 years. I think about getting a new bike but I wonder if it would be worthwhile? I haven't seen anything that got me real excited. Most of the new bikes have an almost 33" seat height. I have a 30" inseam. :)

My wife and I spent the last week at Fatcats house in N Carolina. Fatcat and I repowered his 6" Craftsman lathe with a treadmill motor. We received the wrong belt from Amazon twice. Lets see if three times is a charm. We test fired it with a drill motor, but we may have to adjust the pulley ratios. Pictures to come when the bugs are worked out.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

I have heard of the treadmill motor being used that way before . I contemplated it with my mill to avoid 3 phase .  Just the other day I started thinking the treadmill in the basement might make a great belt sander .
