Quote from: jaybee on November 22, 2024, 07:45:32 PMSad to hear of the end of the Hot Rod shows. Honestly they let the channel get stale 3-4 years ago. It's almost as though they've been trying to kill it by showing the same handful of episodes over and over.

Yeah , how many street race type shows can there be?  The Bi**hing Rides show the recent 2 years was too much on his CF-1 Corvette type  car.  I got tired of seeing the car on the show.  ROadKill was getting a bit stagnant , Yet David F says they always had full creative control of the show?  So ?  What happened?

Tony Aneglo left the Garage show and I dont think the girl works well with Lucky Costa, bad combo.

I really liked Engine Masters show.  Steve Brule' is a smart engine tuner  guy.  He retired , likely  he knew the show was over?

Oh well : 1 door closes , another door opens.  We shall see something new?

I guess the TV show attitude / process happens on many levels?  The same seems to happen in the home improvement shows.  I watch a few of them .. The faux drama in TV shows appears endless?  We are gonna lose the shop!  Or : We are gonna lose the house ! LOL

If you are on the Facebook (if not, stay off Facebook, it;s dangerous or something) Joe Zolper (Garage Squad) has a good commentary on the behind the scenes of these shows and how executive producers treat the folks on the show.  Producers Walk away with all the money, yada yada.

ok , rant over.

The tv shows are all so phony, I can't stand to watch them even for a few minutes when I'm in the waiting room at the doctors office.  The home show:  she volunteers at the animal shelter, he works part time at a convenient store and they just bought a $250,000 home and want to spend another $250,000 completely changing it. What?? Yeah, right.

Matt, is that the worst or just a beginning?

Bill, other side is not as bad and is next. After that, removal of firewall and floor ahead of seat riser, to fit the 2015-up 5.0L and ten speed auto. Already showed the roof stuff. Did also do a fix / mod along bottom rear of cab. Another guy did the rest of the body already.

The 51 has been getting steady action. It is cute. :)

I watch each new season, but I don't find Kindig's stuff relatable. The quality is absolutely amazing, but at his prices they should be. I've been to their website. Ground up builds start at $400,000, so anything they put out is being built for some multi-millionaire looking to brag. They can be car guys too, obviously, but the message to regular folks is "you can't afford this, ever."

I once saw part of a TV show from that shop. Little foundation in reality. High fantasy is the genre I'd place it in. Says the junk user from the bargain basement. I've installed their floofy-suck door handles more'n once but Riviera / GP handles are better.  :)

Today's objective is to hook a chain to the 72 GP in my back yard in order to keep my home insured. Don't know what the other end of chain will hook to but my hand is being forced. Underwriters have been deified in our society and their will shall be enforced by any means. No room for Pontiacs under the overpass. Health ins just jumped to nearly double and home insurance is doing same. Liberty, justice, and what-not blahblahblah. Supersonic doom.

In previous weeks, between roof and cowl side, I did this other brown bottom stuff. All fabricated. Inner and outer cab corners and multi piece patching of pan / cab back panel with contour revision (widened hump area to simplify rust repair).

Matt, is it too soon to know what the plan is for the 47?

Thought I already said it, Bill. "Nice driver." is all the info I got. 2015+ Mustang GT engine and trans (5.0, 10 speed auto), no blower. Frame has been modified with modern suspension and steering assist has to be electric since all coyote vehicles are that. Brakes going under dash with a 90°. Owner's leukemia appears to be in remission. He did it up in the 70s with an early 283 4 speed and slots. 4.11s then 3.73s later. Considering reddish metallics and two tones. Stock door latches, handles, seat. I get little info, probably because I don't keep secrets.

You may have, Matt. I have no memory. :)

Well, you are the round Ford truck master in my book, so wha'dya think of that plan? Be a fun game to play once before cashing in your chips, wouldn't it? :)

I got a chain on the death row car. It has to go back within about 50' from whence it came, in the weeds behind the shop. I snagged it from the hoarder complex next door when it was cleared out after a fire a decade ago. Saved it from the crusher that day. Sad hassle now. Lots of goodies on it.

I think it will be very good. I would want to change out the dash. I thought that era was very bland to look at. As I remember, there isn't much room in the cabs so a guy has to be real careful with what you do. If I remember correctly, 40 thru 47 is the same cab. I notice that people are using the 2015 mustang epas rack and pinion on crown vic fronts. If there is room, I think that could make a good conversion. :)

Ha. Yep that dash has about as much character as a stick of margarine. But it is a fair bench, as dashes go. I think this puppy got a plain ole M2. I am just glad it ain't me that has to pick wheels for stuff like this.

Oh no! Yesterday was a dark black day...

I have ten grand left to pay on my mortgage and the fuss over the car in the yard is the tip of an iceburg.

I did not know that State Farm is going out of business in my state. Summer of '25. Even if they stay in automotive, they can't keep me.

Only option I see is to dump entire life savings to buy the house immediately and go forward never being insured again. State does not require home ins.

Learned this yesterday. Its gonna leave my whole family without a means to insure our homes. :'(  :'(  :'(  :'(

I already can't sleep. Can't keep a job if I can't sleep and can't get to work in uninsured cars. This is catastrophic. Life under the overpass draws nearer. Doom is inevitable. Party is over.

Just wow. I am in awe. Attacked by an ally. Very very sad now, and even angrier. Pray? Weep? A nuclear war is bound to start soon too. Infinite peril has arrived. Head for the hills while you still can and if you find a cave to inhabit, defend it as though your life depends on it.

If you own a car that doesn't run, I feel sorry for you. Heads up. Google it if you don't believe me.
