Quote from: "40chevy"Went to a car show on Saturday. Had great weather and 102 cars at it. Lots to see. 4 of us got our 4 street rods lined up for a picture since our Mississippi street rod tags are in order. I broke the picture up into four so that the tags could show up better since the shot was too wide. Then I went to a cruise-in that night.

Does your buddy with 1/2 a V8 have a WEB Site with more information and pictures on that engine? That kind of "Odd Ball" engineering attracts my attention. I was about ready to make my V6 into a GEO engine the other day. The rest of the story is about a page long and I typed it but deleted it. GPster

He was out of Oklahoma, I just met him on Saturday. That was a unique piece. I think we have some RRTers in OK, don't we? Maybe one of them knows him.

A street rod is a vehicle made before 1949 that is modified with modern stuff: bigger motors; newer trans; updated suspension, front & rear; a/c.
Following is a street rod plus definition: No known definition because it changes.

This weekend, March 10th, I will be going with a group to see George Poteet's collection in Holly Springs, MS. Should be a good trip. Gas prices have gone back up, so I am trying to decide if I want to drive the '40 or the HHR. I'll find out at the club meeting how many folks are going to drive their street rods and see.

When you're there look for a $3000 pair of E & J headlights.  Someone named Cameltoe bought them on Epay a few weeks ago and I'm guessing it was him.

What do they look like? At that price they might be in a bank vault instead of there!

Must be the same guy that just paid $1025.00 for a pair of chrome headlight bezels for a 55 Pontiac.

I did. It hurt for awhile---I mean the boot that Mama put up my azzz when she found out how much I was willing to spend on these things. The bidding reached a few hundred and I bowed out. They were an extremely rare set, pointed and peaked at the top front. A special order item from the dealer at the time. Very similar to the 55 chevs, but special made for the Pontiac. And brand new condition, never mounted on a car.

They are the football looking lights.  They are aluminum so you will see them either polished or painted.  They're just like the used pair I have on the shelf that I paid $50 for.  I passed on the NOS pair still in the box that the guy wanted $100 for.  Boy was I smart.

WOW! Poteet sure has a very nice place. He was at the Detroit Autorama, but Eric Hoyt showed us around the place. They invited Memphis Street Rods down for the day. I took over 100 pictures that I will have to get uploaded to the web.

The crowd pleaser was this Coupe that was chopped 1". Why would anyone go to the trouble of chopping a car 1"? You ask. Well check out the results and you will see why.

After that, some of us in the group went to see a junkyard up in North Mississippi with cars in it from the 30s 40s 50s and up. Not much metal to work with, but they make great pictures.
