I read this monday morning that Pima County in Arizona will open vaccine to age 16 & older on April 5th...  The last county to do so.

Odd , since Governor Doug ordered the state wide opening of ages 16 & up..

Pima county has been very restrictive on the Covid Chinese flu mandates of mask wearing  , businesses closed , very limiting on crowds gathering even outdoors.

Lewis and Clark county (my county) opened last week to all 16 and above.  The mask mandate has been dropped statewide, and only 5 counties and the 3 reservations still have mask mandates in place.  We have 56 counties.

The entire state of Mi has opened to 16 and over. We need it, there was over 8,000 new cases from Friday-Sat. We had free testing at both local high schools yesterday, Easter Sunday, and they were lined up out of the parking lots....one of my friends wife has been in the hospital with it for the past week, they just got her oxygen level into the 80% area. Another friends uncle just passed away Friday from it. Kinda scary around here right now.

There has been more push back from a few cities against the Governor Doug's order for the drop of mask mandate statewide in AZ..   Oddly enough the city mayors that are pushing back are on the opposite side of the political fence from Gov Doug.

Tucson Dragway is holding events now with spectators allowed. I have not read if there are limits on number of spectators. Masks - face coverings are still required on the Pima County land that Tucson Dragway is located on.  We will not be attending the events. I am not wearing a face covering outdoors at a drag race event.

About a week ago I saw a fellow driving a  convertible alone, with a face mask on. I view that as pure "dumb a**"

I think it was monday.  I read the head AZ Health official suggests the AZ operated vaccine sites will be shut down in June.

Of course today (tuesday) I read about the J&J vaccine use is halted at the moment?   As I recall that was to be the main vaccine in use by doctors , pharmacy type places because of easier handling (less cold storage) ?

I guess I whizzed off an old fellow at Costco today?

I had to return my bad cell phone for credit at the Return counter.  We were standing in line. I was about 2 or 3 feet from the woman in front of me with my wife next to me. In this return line the social distance rule was not being observed by anyone.

The woman had been talking to the guy (husband?)  as the guy was standing outside the line marker tape posts.

Suddenly he steps around the posts and into the line. He positions himself  between the woman and me.  It was not a problem since we were standing apart at least 2 feet.  Everybody had face covering on, it is still a Costco requirement.

Lost two to Covid in the last couple days. Son of my high school pal Tom Cunningham, son's name is Tom also. Lost my retired barber and long time hot rod pal Ron Hegbloom. We grew up in the same neighborhood.

I read in the news: Walmart, Costco , Trader Joes to allow full vaccinated people to enter their stores with out face covering...   and not require proof of vaccinations.  This should be interesting with the "extreme mask wearing people" out there.

Each day I am out in traffic , I see usually at least 3 people alone in their cars with masks on.  I dont think they are Uber or Lyft drivers since the cars do not fit that profile like a Prius or similar high MPG hybrid car.

I had not thought about it..   Never told my brother we received the vaccine in march..  He is very non government , No big brother in your life type of guy.  He is not extreme , but will tell you what he thinks on the subject. He has been anti mask, yet worked part time at Walmart in 2020 where he had to wear a mask full time.

He asked me if we had been vaccinated.    I said yes, in March.  He is 74 ,, Health could be better.  His wife is 71 and her health is iffy, life long diabetic with all the complications.  So I understand their reluctance to vaccinate or just wait for more results.

They have lifted the mask mandate here in Michigan for some situations and are leaving it up to individual stores to require, or not, masks. I normally wear a mask and have no problem with it. Today I went to Menards and had no mask, they have them at the service counter for .45 cents. I stopped and asked if I needed one. They said no as long as you're fully vaccinated. I was going into the outdoor area anyway so didn't get one. Also went to Lowes and Home Depot and didn't need one. It actually felt odd to not wear one. There was probably 1/3 of the people without masks. Our Governor is saying we should be close to normal by July 4th.

The past week, we have been in more food places where masks were not worn by most of the customers.  In a new Whataburger in Queen Creek AZ we almost felt out of place with our masks on as we walked in.

Couple more updates:  The Monthly auto swap meet at a local community college will happen on June 6th Sunday.  I have not read of any restrictions for masks at this outdoor event. This is the first swap meet at this college in 1 year.  It is County owned - operated land

Next item:  I visited my former employer on tuesday. Several people (5) are out because of covid 19 virus positive test results.. These are primarily front office - sales staff. I was "told" a sales staff person tested positive for the virus after his wife tested positive.  This pair are 'anti vaxers" , they never get flu shots etc , because the only time they ever got the flu was when they had a flu shot.

So of course other sales staff people tested positive.  A guy in shipping is out for covid because he tested positive.

I was told none of these folks were showing  symptoms   of the virus  and so far no shop members have been out sick with the virus lately or tested positive.

its interesting to me because when I worked there in 2020.... the shop members were not suppose to travel up front unless really needed.  Then a mask must be worn. The office workers wore masks if they walked away from their desk.. The sales staff did not wear masks because of talking on the phone.  Yet masks were required on customers walking in the front door.  Weird?

My wife visited the local Costco tuesday.  No masks required to enter. She said the majority of folks did not wear a mask inside or outside.

the Dennys we visit has signs up for masks to be worn to enter. The staff wear masks.  Majority of customers when we eat breakfast there do not wear masks

Hi..  We have a food store here:  Winco ..  Employee owned business the last time I checked.  They have signs up about No Mask if you have been vaccinated.

Same deal at Harbor Freight.  I was at the Queen Creek AZ Store HF several days ago and   This friday morning I was at the HF store in Mesa AZ on Gilbert road..  They have signs up about Masks.. If you are vaccinated , masks are optional.

I was told this morning that one sales person has returned to Hughes after virus test results have been negative.  I did not walk up to the front office for a look see.

I was at Hughes catching up with folks...  dropping off chunks of scrap metal i dont need any longer.  I heard there is still many parts shortages  and prices on transmitten cores has jumped up again.

I got my shot today. Single dose, no appointment, no wait, less than two miles from home. Thats what I was holding out for. I was motivated of course, by the number of folks now unmasked seen out and about.

And now... that's that!  :)  ( makes dusting off hands gesture ) I'll be all clear by Juneteenth.
