Beck, I used to take up to 2 weeks. In 2019, my wife traded for a new unit. 3 days of swapping emails and and 2 phone calls to close the deal. Then I drove 150 miles to swap vehicles and sign paper work and give them the check. That was the largest check we had written except for buying a house which was from the loan company to the seller. :) In 1986, my son needed to use a restroom. I pulled into a dealership that I had done business with many times. The owner caught me and asked what I needed. I told him just the bathroom. In less than 15 minutes I traded pickups. Short expensive bathroom break. It wasn't much money back then. :)

Seems like there are some actual good deals on new vehicles right now. My brother has been looking to replace his Ram truck with a newer one. He has been looking at used ones because the new ones are so pricey. Then he started seeing deals on new ones, hmmmm, his son is an Engineer  at FCA so he gets the employee deal. That along with the big discounts got him $13,500 off a new one, plus 0% financing. He picks it up today! 😃

Today I am painting the insides of my saddle gas tanks before I weld the tops on . A call to the POR15 tech line said that If I wanted to recoat the gas tank when the top was welded on I should spray on some POR15 etching primer along the edge of the paint where it will overlap when I paint after welding the top on. I have painted to within 1" of where the top will be welded on . I will fill the tank with water and gas weld the top . Well I just hit the paint that has been setting up for an hour , with POR15 etch primer and it is eating through the gas tank sealer . It was supposed to just tack up and blend in which was supposed to be better than sanding it and priming it when it is dry . I am some P!$$ed off !   I will probably have to sand all of this off again . Might be less work to just build new tanks !

I have been wondering how popular this post would be. We are averaging about 19 posts a week. I'm glad to see this.

This is my most read thread.  It's the first one I read when I come here, just haven't been doing too much lately. We've been buying new furniture for the house, and have someone coming tonight to buy the cedar chest we were using for a table in the family room. Going to grill steaks tonight for dinner. Yumm.

Some of the news I see on shipping is like most you folks have heard...  backlogs everywhere.

USPS seems to be the worse for backlogs.  I receive an email notice on daily mail delivery to my house. Comes with a few photos of scanned mail.  There has been a warning in those emails for over a week about delays in delivery.

items my wife bought for her sisters weeks ago, the last one arrived today. It was scheduled for delivery 1 week ago.

Finshed this painting today, just for fun, not a commission, although I would sell it. 16" X 24", acrylic on hardboard.

I like that, primer with a little tinge of rust.

Quote from: "enjenjo"I like that, primer with a little tinge of rust.

Thanks Frank. The reference I used was a bare metal car, black and white photo, but I wanted an unfinished, first ride look, hence the black decklid. I may do this again, with a shiney black body with red wheels with trim rings and small caps.

That there is a great painting ! You are right , it captures the 'just got it running ' excitement and some of the reasons we do this . A finished , painted car would leave that emotion behind .

Over the weekend we got the new air compressor moved into the shop and the old one loaded in fatcat's trailer along with a newer compressor head  for him to take to North Carolina. I'm waiting for fittings and oil for the compressor, and it seems everything I do needs air.

Do you have any friends or family that use internet online  tech daily , yet are ignorant about tech stuff and the internet?

Situation with a friend on his chevy car, yr 2014. Check engine light comes on , engine runs ruff a bit, often it happens after a gas fill up.  We run codes.  Emissions code P0496.

Supposedly he looked into it.  Tells me nothing really explains it.  I search online, in 45 seconds it comes back as a common emissions  purge valve failure on chevy Cruze and Sonic cars.  These are both cars he has codes on and ruff running at times. He tells me he did not find that. How did he not find it online?

I do know. Maybe I expect too much.  My brother is the same as my friend.  My brother wondered about a close buddy he grew up with.  The guy had an uncommon name.  I told my brother to search online with Bing or Google..  Weeks later my brother says he found nothing.

in 15 minutes searching I found obituary notices for the guy and his brother online from 10 to 15 years ago.  I learned the guy had a son from the obit and i showed my brother a location  and even a Facebook profile for the son. After that I left further contact to my brother.

weird.  Maybe they are afraid of the internet and online stuff?

Tony, my thought is that it takes logic to determine the choice of words to search with. I know people exactly as you described. The cruze code is so common most owners know it by memory.:)

I have trouble diagnosing technology problems because I do not know the correct terms when asking questions.  I also have problems with the logic of some of the methods that computer technology uses.

I am particularly frustrated when I do not get an operating manual with something that I purchase.

Just enter " brand model xyz service/owners manual" and nine times out of ten it will come up. For parts same format except "parts breakdown".
