Uh-oh... scrolling to see whole pic but unable to see whole pic at once with new software... not good. Not tragic, but an added posting hurdle. ::) Sign of the times, as my folks like to say. :)

It is unfortunate about the picture thing but we are stuck with it. The world finds new ways to be crappier each day and a guy can only just get used to it. Yesterday's pics must be scrolled to see the subject matter in the right half a sliver at a time.

I know it is not your favorite. But it is how the system is programmed. As an aside if you upload them to the forum server they will be resized automatically to fit in the forum software's designated constraints. There were constraints on the old forum software too. But it was possible to break them if you added images from off site. The newer software has eliminated that issue.

Hey, thanks for the enlightenment.  :) Thats what I figured though. What is the column width limit now, in pixels? The ability to provide the level of detail that is my favorite to do, which is simplest because pics come straight off the device, for free, is indeed extinguished. Infrastructure finally won, thats all. No reflection on the board, just a sign of world progress. This was my last refuge in that respect. And I dang sure appreciate how you guys hustled to get an RRT back up. Back pats for sure on that! I get that software changes blindsided you the same way but the transition was fairly seamless on my end.

I'll think of something, always have. On the blog where the pics are hosted, full size is only available by opening the pic in a new tab. Or I'd send lookers there. It does take comments if the user has a gmail addy.

Meanwhile, portrait orientation I guess. This pic does not require scrolling to see the goody part.

Next is some welding, or getting the bed together. ???

They are both bonded, just this one has been welded and sanded so far. This is the left. Also welded the bottom of one rear rail end cap. Did some looking and pondering on the roll pan for a few minutes too.

If you just hover the cursor over the picture you can see it all. At least you can on my monitor.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

Bill, thanks :) Without the detail, you might not have been so sure of that.

Frank... Sweet! :) I got no worries then if you guys don't.

My devices are below minimum everything but I made sure to get one with a decent camera for showing sandscratches in nauseating detail. To annoy interwebs with.

That is a somewhat loaded and trick question. The forum software developers recommend that the page width be set to 1000 pixel. But in my experience over the last few years 1920x1050 or 1600 x 900 are more common resolutions. I set the width for the page at 90%. Meaning that no matter the screen resolution it will fill 90% of the page. Because of the advanced image upload and management built into this software I was able to up the image size and resolution available to users. The software will now take an image of any size. And I tested it with an image that was 3870 pixels wide. It will rescale the image to a ratio of 1280x1024. Meaning that if the image listed above is uploaded it will scale the width to 1280 and the height whatever it is will be proportionate to that width. It will create a thumbnail image which is what you see by default in a post. It is also smart enough that it will check the image to see if it is rotated. If rotated 90 degrees out it will automatically rotate it to the proper orientation. I have not tried this feature out so I do not know if it works. If you click on the thumbnail image that is created it will show the full 1280 pixel width image.

If you look at the image above this is the default view for attached images.

The above image is what it looks like if you click on the image and it expands it.

And the neat feature that also comes out of all this is that if you click on the little paper clip in the image below that is circled in blue.

You can download the image to your default download location.

With all that said. The reason it stated it was a loaded question is that depending on the screen resolution of the users computer will depend on how big the scroll bar will be on the bottom of your attached images.

As for the image display on hover that Enjenjo had mentioned I am not sure where that comes from as it is not a feature of this software so it must be something he has running on his computer.

Fat Cat, I'm enjoying some of the new features. I know there are other things that I haven't stumbled on yet. The update has made posting pics better for me. Thank you for your efforts. :)

Well I certainly didn't mean to set a trap there, just not familiar with the workings of websites. I think I'm picking up what you are laying down though. My biggest concern is to not create undue expense by how many MB I upload, hogging up "space". Frank and I discussed it long time ago as I was aware of a limit per month. Another reason I've hosted with blogger since theres no data penalty for off-site hosting like I been doing.

Some sites just say 800 pixels wide is plenty and thats that. I thought it might be that simple. And gosh I must say I feel priveliged to get a FatCat post on my thread. :) You are helping, thanks. Bear with me, I go slow but given time, I mostly end up doing the right thing on stuff. Way late!

Checked my camera, it is set at lowest res. So I resized this pic on my phone, just cut it to 50% and gonna upload it here. 1280 x 720, and I can still count whiskers-

Woops, nope. Still 687 kb, double the upload limit. Stand by...

OK here it is from the blog. If I do it like this, lunch posts will be tough but I think we'll all live-

Ouch. Except the de-cat-pitated subject matter. I just realized that it is an actual fat cat though... ;D  Don't mean nothing by it, just the last other stuff pic I took. Thats Pogo and on my phone he is headless. Still maybe work to do for me there.

Matt, your cat pic looks good to me. I have the entire height of the post on my screen and hardly have to scroll right at all. Less than I did with your pics on the old software, truthfully.

So far I'm enjoying the new software. Not only am I able to get online after being locked out for most of the current year, I don't have to log in every time I come around. I don't think being locked out was a fault of the site software, to be clear. It was some kind of malicious software blocker in Chrome.

I uploaded a pic that was 6.2 meg and it automatically resized it. I forgot to resize and was surprised at the result. I don't know what the forums capabilities are. :)

Jaybee, the cat pic is at half size.

KB, I uploaded the half sized pic but it didn't appear in preview and attachment limits were listed for me, max 8 images at a time, 300KB limit. Max 2400 KB per post. Thats generous by Apollo rocket standards. There are two aspects of the word size and no one even thinks about file size, only resolution.

So nothing has really changed for me but my perception. Thats no suprise, I see people all day long doing things I can only marvel at. Simple stuff like having normal tools or cars that I just can't figure out. Often though, I find ignore and continue to be the answer and thats probably the case here. I prefer to notice my own shortcomings before others have to point them out but in this case I'm the only one complaining. Complaints are unwelcome everywhere and I know to stop.

Theres no issue! I'll just keep trying or doing as I have been. On this post I attached the fullsize cat pic but do not see it. I'll just hit post and see what happens.
