I went to a car show today so this is my 1st look. The last drawing looks good and different and I would say contemporary in design. I wouldn't do that light on mine but it's not my truck. I see many chevy's of newer vintage with that style and location of light. It seems too modern for the age of the truck in my worthless opinion. If that is how it get's finished, it will be eye catching. That does appear to be a goal on this truck so that would mean the owners mission will be accomplished by you and the shop, the enablers. Does that sound logical? :)

Sure.  :)

The squandering of personal effort is what blows me away. Such an extended period spent in such mystery, only to arrive at the answer: None.

Reminds me of the Twilight Zone where the guy survives armageddon because he had his nose in a book in a library. When panic subsides, he realizes he has all the food, books, and time in the world to himself now and can finally just read! He takes one step up the stairs and drops his thick glasses, breaking them to bits.

That is VERY Twilight Zone.

I like that tail light but would prefer it in the middle of the back fender vertically , or horizontally in the reveals under the end gate . the lower version might be harder to see in close traffic . Just one mans opinion .  :) Truck will look awesome however it is finished .

When I'm done it will look like some sort of cave creature with no eyes. Then whoever can hang whatever wherever and play Mr Velcro LED Potato head to the extent of their heart's desire for all I care. :)

Disengaging from idea duty now though. 3 never to be finished six figure show queens is about my limit, just like the boss. Last car I painted, in '10, probably sits just as I left it too. At least F1 man drives the last one that got finished, on weekends.

Like, this   :blank: See?

Oh, Monday. Back to long weeks.

Accomplishments:
 Got vertical corner filler to the desired shape and gap, flat enough face for a tail light maybe and a more gooder radius transition at the outside. At the inside I hit a snag. No latches or strikers found.  ::) Always sumthin'.
 Modified gate hinge attachment to allow removal.
 Got pan half and center screwed in desired position. (raised an inch)
 Got pattern for desired bumperette made. (1/4" narrower than up front but just as adorable)

Where the yellow tape is... is where a pretty spot will be, if'n I pull it off.  :) Yes, those button heads do come out of there. Just. ;)

Ah, it pays to take pics. I found proof the tailgate was not on it when the truck was prematurely siezed in March. So it wasn't me who lost the gate latches because the hinges were packaged with the latches.

Bumperettes-

Slot to be split then folded open-

Still pretty twisted up from doing that with duck bill vise grips, the poor man's hemming pliers-

No refinement thus far, I just got the bumper jammed in the slot and screwed it on. Work in progress.

I believe I got it all sitting like I want now, at least from the rear view. Corner of the pan needs a bunch of fussy fuss yet-

The bumperettes are nice, they're going to look good. I think they do more for the truck than the filled bed top rolls do. To my eyes those weren't worth the work, but I know that was a request from the owner.

I concur. And will add that if anyone is sufficiently intrigued as to bend down to look closer at other features, ta-da heres another slick mod to absorb. Kind of like an Easter egg, a bonus viewing reward to make it more worth bending down. ;)

Not nit picking, just asking.
The flow for the bumper seams like it would flow better if the insides were straight like the plate rather then at an angle to the plate. Was there a reason for it?
You never have time to do it right the first time but you always have time to do it again.

Unity with the front end, my good man. Matches the ones out front-

The place I started out at in automotive stuff made step bumpers shaped that way. So it did cross my mind but since the outer ends won't be interrupted by tail lights I figured thats my cue to have matching bumperettes all around.

Thanks for popping in to share thoughts. :)

Went about this side's construction differently, heres where I'm at-
