Quote from: "crdnblu"Thin, straight-line trim for me, to accentuate the length, & fine lines.  Also, I would suggest losing the front fender-mount mirrors, sitting out in the breeze; find a door-mount mirror more in keeping with the smooth look.  (Or just move the existing mirrors to the doors....)

Thanks. A straight thin molding suits me fine but see above replies. Would you run it down the center of the spear contour of the quarter or below it? There are big holes everywhere the molding goes now.

That is one funky mirror. The silly mirror location has not been discussed. That does give the car part of it's identity but yeah, something ought to change. Its a funky shape and an eyesore.

If I learned anything today its that coworkers like the hook. Nobody likes the bumper treatment. And...

The car will not be red. Don't know what color yet but red is out, they say. Boss asked me for a black and a green one just now.

I made flange strips to attach the crusty tail light area braces to the tail member, welded the ribbed piece and brackets in, got the rear hump pan extension prepped, and went back to continue on the back seat bulkhead. I am having second thoughts about that hot roll sheet and may end up with something different. I cut the trunk pan center section out and will make that piece when gas tank is the focus. Stopping there will leave the fill and pump bumpup stuff wide open for now. Pics kinda suck today, poor lighting in a shadowy spot and the flash didn't want to fire for me. Here-

Quote from: "rumrumm"I'm with Carnut on this. I like the dip without the fender skirts. I think the straight line piece will interfere with the bulge in the fender.

When you guys say dip, you mean where the molding dips down on the quarter, correct? You are correct about the interference. The straight stick has to either turn down or twist the last foot or two at the rear. Putting a point like up front at the rear so the molding doesn't intersect with the bumper might be a help.

Yes, that is what I meant by dip.

Love the black car, but the maroon one is pretty cool as well. Personally, I think red is a little much for a car that large. Darker colors work better IMHO.

Green top, Black in the middle, Green below the trim. A brighter green, jade green.
Welcome to hell. Here's your accordion.

so take the molding strip from the front fender to just beneath the front vent window and end it with a point . Then start another molding strip from a point starting at the leading edge of the rear quarter bulge and take it straight back to the tail lights . This will make the rear quarter panel look longer than the swirl which tends to abbreviate the length of the back of the car .

Licorice and pistachio sounds like a bellyache but I could dig the Hirohata scheme. And more molding play. But theres no need. We will have to resolve something with the headlight thingy from the rendering. So I'm done with the side for the moment. Fresh metal pics when theres some free moments. :)

Yea I ruined it for Bedrock dudes, they would bang shins now. Dino has a place to sit now, though! Which brings to mind...

I saw in the 59 Pontiac sales brochures how rear passenger heads are completely under the rear window. Chassis guy got big eyes looking at back seat room so I sat in that underseat pan. Back seat will just have to be foam pad right there but it should be a fairly usable seat by tubbed standards. Blindly tubbed, that is.

It also dawned on us to go ahead and weld the driveshaft tunnel in because access doors for utilities can be made if and only where needed for easy service. Everything will run down the middle.

Flintstones did have tires, seats, and Fred was the tank. I'll give em that much.

Should have seats tomorrow. Down at the R, V & A (Regular Vise & Anvil) we enjoy dot rodding-

I got started welding the second footwell in place today.

We have seats!    The mounting conflict was not imaginary according to a quick glance, and I'm told each of these are a grand as-is. Jeepers :!:  :?
