Uncle Bob

Give credit where credit is due.  Pres. Carter signed the legislation creating the US Energy Department (would that be an oxymoron?  Is there anything energetic about a government agency?)  Originally created to reduce our dependence on foreign oil and promote safe nuclear energy.  They've been so effective we now only import about 2/3 of our needs (though, no thanks to them, the bulk of that is from neighbors Canada and Mexico) and haven't done anything positive toward nuclear energy in close to 4 decades.

Nowadays the Energy Department is mainly driven to convince us that Magic Pixie Dust is the "Energy of the Future". :D

Melb   Australia.   The price of fuel is the same as it was 3 yrs ago.
Back then  a barrel of oil was over $140 and our dollar was around 80cents against the USD.
Today a barrel is just on $100 and our dollar is over parity.
Who is trousering the windfall?

Wow.   This is getting out of hand.
Blame the turmoil in Libya will be the excuse.
Worse for us down in OZ, our Prime Minister who is currently being given standing ovations by your congress is intending to hit us with a carbon tax that will push our prices up further if she gets away with it .
Standard Unleaded, according to one of my work colleagues who has  just come in after fuelling up. 139.40 cents per litre . This is imperial where 4.55 litres = 1 Gallon.

Frank.
