Quote from: "DJ".. just started building a 38 Chev sedan..

So Dan, is this a 'real' sedan with the right number of doors or one of them cheap coupe wannabee's with a couple of doors left off and anti-social seating?

Rodder's Roundtable / Another Newbie

Hi All, figured I'd better sign in since I've been a member since Oct. Have just started building a 38 Chev sedan with my good friend Bob Tilton, so far have got a Heidt's IFS on front and will be mounting a 9" Ford on the back with Chassis Engineering leaf springs as soon as I can get all the parts ordered.  Also have a 62 Pontiac Bonneville and a 74 Chrysler New Yorker that was my Dad's last new car. Will try to get pictures on when I can figure out how to do it, not very computor smart. Have really enjoyed going threw all the different topics that are brought up am amazed at all the information thats brought up and discussed.

Rodder's Roundtable / 4 post lift
November 03, 2006, 02:18:14 PM
I have a two post also, the only down side was that I had to knock out the floor in my shop where the hoist was going and pour a thicker pad. I hired it done because I didn't trust myself to get the bolts in the concrete precise enough so the hoist  would slide down over them. I bought my hoist used from my brother-in-law ( he has his own mecanic's shop ) so I knew the hoist, I'd be leary of used unless you knew who owned it. Worth every penny, no more crawling under cars.  Good Luck!!

Rodder's Roundtable / What rear for '38 Chevy
October 30, 2006, 10:49:11 AM
Thanks again guys for the info, I do have a 10 bolt posi out of a Firebird thats 56" back plate to back plate maybe the best bet would be set that rear under the car then put some wheels up to it.Darrell, this car belonged to Dale Grunewaldt (the guy you bought your trailer from) he'd bought it as a parts car and then decided it was too good.

Hey guys thanks for the info, I ended up calling Chassis Engineering for a catalog and they told me to use a 9" from a Granada or a Monarch. So thats my plan unless anyone has other thoughts. Car goes to the media blaster tomorrow, I'll try to get a picture in the readers rides
