Rodder's Roundtable / Thanks JUSJUNK
June 18, 2008, 10:05:37 AM
I had e-mailed JUSJUNK several months ago about his seats for his roadster and he was kind enough to stear me in the right direction. I just wanted to give a thanks and an in-progress pic if I can get them to load. I bought the complete interior out of a Chrysler Town an Country mini-van ,we used the rear seat back and two of the bucket seat bottoms for the main seat. The seat still folds forward to use for storage behind. We have enough leather from the other seats I think we can do the door panels.
It won't be a show piece but so far we have only spent $80. Thanks again.
Now if I can get the pic's to work

My daughter had an Escort that would act up ,she would take the console lid off and trip the switch manually. Don't know if Contour is the same .

I buy quite a bit of stuff from Speedway, and have always been happy with the product and the service. They will make mistakes, but they always bend over backwards to make it right. If you are close you can pick it up and the free tour of the musem is awsume.

I have used them in bracket cars ,11 second stuff. They are made by Alabama Convertor. I did not have any problem with them and probably ran them 200 passes or so. One I know has been in the car for 5 years.
There are probably faster convertors out there, but the 5 or 600 hundred extra for them  may not be worth it.
Besides anyone who paints a convertor purple has got guts.

Rodder's Roundtable / Tools for tubes, Tube notchers???
November 27, 2006, 09:30:52 AM
For what it's worth I do drag cars . I purchased a hole jigger or something like that years ago and although it does a good job it is a pain. You have to use oil to get any life from the hole saws and it vibrates and is very noisy.
I use a small air powered body saw and finish with a die grinder and it usual is faster and a lot cleaner. As far as tubes missalighing sometimes you can put another bend in the tube and get it to butt up square or closer anyway.

Rodder's Roundtable / rear end yoke

This is the 12 bolt end I used. I ended up enlarging the holes on the torque tube slightly so the seal would center ok. I haven't driven the car yet but I don't think I should have a problem..
By the way remember to vent the rear end housing somehwere,I guarentee it will push out a lot of oil if it can't vent. Best of luck.

Rodder's Roundtable / rear end yoke

Hope this works

I used the stock end off the torque tube. It  jsut so happend we cut the machined axle ends off a 12 chebbey to narrow it . The machined area just slipped inside the torque tube. Tack welded lightly not to warp It.The seal # was just cross referenced by size ,the set screw just titie enough so It doesn't want to be a slip  yoke.

I just did one,the deal is mine was a 10 spline. Speedway has a 10 spline yoke with u-joint flange that I used (about $60 ) and I made the rest .I'll see if I can get pic's to work. Why were some 10 spline and others 6?

don't know any 36 's around here. The town is growing so much because of Omaha that we might as well just let them take us over.

I actually retired last Oct. and am not sure whats going to happen in the spring. I may start doing some commercial mowing but that always seems to lead to more and more.

Rodder's Roundtable / The madness has begun.

For what it's worth, years ago I worked in a machine shop and we made 427  Corvette blocks and sold them to a guy building 427-tri-power cars. We would use 396 or 427 blocks and had molds made of individual casting #'s and epoxy them on a block ,sometimes changing the date code. Drill and tap a hole above the  oil filter for the oil cooler line and machine them, spray with chebby orange and they went in as original tri powers.
Thats why I don't trust a lot of this original stuff.
Rumor had it that the guy in the Ferrari hat that bought the 3 million $ Olds last year was the guy that started the Discovery Channel. May be true maybe not. If so the 3 mill. probably didn't hurt him much.
The guys are better this year but still put out a lot of bogus info. About an hour ago a Hot Rod went thru and the guy said  when he saw the Jag IRS with a quick change back on it that it was a rare two speed rear end.
Go figure.

Just wanted to say hi!.
Lurked for awhile ,everyone seemed pretty low key ,so here I am. My wife says I think I know it all so feel free to put me in my place when you want. I have a almost completed Modified style 28 A,low buck, and drag race a lot during the warm months. I like practicaly anything with wheels .
Retired and spend most of the time now in the garage.
