Rodder's Roundtable / Any 350 Rocket ideas?
May 07, 2004, 09:15:47 AM
I've got a friend that wants me to rebuild the Olds rocket in his 70 ragtop.
I'm thinking we'll just do a basic rebuild with new pistons rings etc.
bearings and all the usual stuff.
He'd like a little more HP so I'm looking at getting a Edelbrock package with the RPM cam, intake and carb.
Any other ideas I should look out for or consider?
I've stuck more to the Chev/ Ford side of things rather than messing with the Olds engines.
Thanks
Jeff

Rodder's Roundtable / Re: She just keeps a pumpin.
April 24, 2004, 07:59:25 PM
Quote from: "gstiel"I have ABS breaks on my 99 GMC 1500. The warning light stays on and the pump keeps running even after I turn the ignition off. I have to pull the fuse to get it to stop.
Some how I don't think this is going to be an acceptable long term fix. Anyone have any suggestions as to where to start looking?

The ABS relay inside the brake control module is shorted on.
It is not serviceable by itself, you have to replace the entire module assembly.
A pretty expensive fix, Here in canada it runs about 900$C for the module.
Replacing it is fairly easy 4 screws and 3 connectors.
Some guys leave the fuse out and run on base brakes

I've seen the price on those also and it's hard for me to fathom just how better can a gauge get than what is already available.
I've got VDO's and they work great.
Not to mention the one button speedo calibration that you can do while driving down the road.

Rodder's Roundtable / Re: Equus brand name any good?
March 08, 2004, 09:41:37 AM
Quote from: "58Apache"I seen a high tech timing light that has built in tach and even a dwell meter in the higher end model. I also happened to see where they make guages ( oil pressure, water temp, etc. )

I had never heard of this brand until recently. I like what I see but not sure if I should sink that much money into something I don't know if it will be junk or work well.

Anyone ever use Equus brand name stuff?

Equus used to be sold in Canada quite abit, I think it was in the Canadian Tire chain of stores.
They seemed to be middle of the road when it came to quality.
But I do know that i see alot of the old timing lights around and they all seem to work.

Rodder's Roundtable / Bumper question
March 03, 2004, 12:57:22 PM
A friend of mine is very close to finishing his 64 Ford Galaxy 500.
The last thing he needs is a rear bumper and he's having no luck at all finding one.
Anybody know of a good bumper company in the states that he could call?
Thanks

Yep it's on the road
2000 miles last summer and not once has it seen a trailer or a top.
We'll go for a rip before you're 112.
Perhaps at Bonneville

Hey Hemi!
Your name and message are still scrawled on the firewall of the 32
Just couldn't bring myself to paint over it!
You never know 50 years from now someone may find it and say "who the hell is 48 Hemi"

Quote from: "Crosley"it's  about 6:30 Am, 53* on my patio, I've got the BBQ fired up , burger on.

A great day!

Then I climb the ladder to nail down shingles today and tomorrow.

Tony those shingles look a little crooked!!!
Maybe you should have gotten a pro in to do those
It's plus 2 here and i spent most of the morning scraping snow out of the yard with the quad.
Also got the new BIG headlights for the roadster.
Have to modify the mounts so they don't hit the front wheels while turning.
Maybe next month I've got lots of time
