Rodder's Roundtable / Nutserts?????
May 01, 2012, 08:53:15 PM
I bought the kit, a quality made in England tool that looks like a pop rivet tool.

I got all the sizes right from the small 8/32 machine screw size all the way up to 3/8".

Like you I thought I would not use it much.  Wrong !!

I love the darn thing. I found myself going all over my projects eliminating bolts with nuts and also any sheet metal or self tapping screws. Gone !

The 10/32 machine screw sized insert is one of my favorites and very useful as is the 1/4".

I use the inserts pictured above, the ones with the ribs aroung the outside, they don't slip and can take a reasonable amount of tightening.

Don't know what I did without it.

Rodder's Roundtable / if you're into cheetahs...

I also had a 1/32 scale Cheetah, an orange one too. Yes it was super fast on my old Stromberg slot car track. Wish I still had that.

That Cheetah body deserves to be bought and turned into a complete car, not just bought and stored along with a bunch of other trash by someone about 3 feet removed from the trailer park as is obvious from the pictures.

Once again we find proof of the watering down of the gene pool.   :D

Its an interesting little model.  It is not an internal combustion engine however it may look like one as it does not burn any fuel and "run" on it's own.

It sits there and spins and operates on supplied compressed air.

That takes away from it in my eyes.

If you want to see something more impressive, look up the miniature SBC V8 engines that actually run on fuel like an internal combustion engine should.

Not sure what you would call that V12.

My 36 has a Turbo 400 in it right now.
It has no kickdown linkage from the throttle linkage and no obvious kickdown switch or anything I can see.

The trans has a holeshot converter, (also being removed) and shifts fine as an auto on it's own. It is equipped with a shift kit and works fine just won't kick down unless you do it manually.

It has a B&M shifter (scary thing with no neutral safety switch) that is going to be removed in favor of a new Lokar shifter.

Questions.
1) How will the Lokars neutral safety swich be wired in ?
2) What should it have for a kickdown ? Linkage or ?
3) Should I consider pulling the TH400 in favor of a newer OD Auto and if so which one is the easiest to install and make work right ?

Lots of ?    But you don't know unless you ask  :)

Rodder's Roundtable / 36 Ford seats
October 03, 2011, 10:07:55 PM
Quote from: "tom36"It's been some years since I stopped into LeBaron Bonny, but at on one time they would make upholstery in any material but only in the stock patterns.  My 36 tudor had individual bucket seats originally and they made me upholstery in burgundy mohair in the original patterns.  Tom...

Hey Tom,

After a little searching I found this, ez-boy interiors by LeBaron Bonney! Mail order hot rod interior kits that you can pick the style and colors of.

Reasonable cost and they look pretty good too.

Rodder's Roundtable / 36 Ford seats

Anyone have any info on a source for rebuilding stock 36 Ford seats ?

The seats in my 36 have been recovered and are decent, but they feel to me like they could stand to be rebuilt from the springs up.

I also need to find a stock seat track assembly for the front seat (36 Ford Humpback bench) as the previous owner mounted it to some sort of Cadillac power track and did a poor job.

I'm a do it myself kinda guy so I'd like some info and supplies, maybe even a how to thread or article ?

Thanks.

Hey Tom,  Good looking 36  :)

I want to upgrade my rear suspension too. It has some sort of paralell leaf spring arrangement now.

I'd like it lower, not sure what to do here.

Any ideas, how is yours done ? Pictures ?

I used a Chassis Engineering parallel leaf kit and I thought it was to high for my tastes so I put in 2" lowering blocks  to bring it down.  I used a Heidts Mustang ll kit up front with stock, not dropped, spindles.  Tom...

I looked at that one, although I have the parallel leaf setup now, I was also considering the Progressive triangulated 4 bar kit.

That one could be difficult to install with the body still in place though.
