GM 800 steering box question

How many balls are in a GM 800 series steering box. I have one source, a factory manual, that says 22 balls. but I just tore down one that had 24 balls in it. Does it vary from one ratio to another?

No idea but it must've come out of a fast car.  You know the ones.  "How's it run?"  "Pretty good.  Man, this thing's got..."

Well, it's back together, with 24 balls in it, seems to work ok.
