It has an AOD. The wiring harness is a modified factory harness from a F150 truck. Badly done, but it works for the time being, so he doesn't want to mess with it.

Butch, if you are using the stock 78 timing cover, they make those pumps both rotation. Compare the impeller with the original to see if it's the same rotation. As KB said, this pump takes a special cover, and the pump bolt pattern is different. It is also a couple inches lower than the older pumps on the cover in addition to being shorter.

You like this better? I do. I had to add an idler to suit me, but I have good contact on all the pulleys.

I like that a lot better.  I wasn't so worried about the water pump, but thought your crank wrap could be a little better.  That should work real well.
