Des Moines GoodGuys 7/2,3,4

Me and a couple buddies will be driving up friday, staying at the Motel 6 next to the host hotel. '34 chevy coupe dark purple, '31 chevy sedan (stretched) black, '35 ford sedan (slantback) black. Hope to see some of you.
I have the whole week off after the show (with the wife in Florida until the 11th) ee-haw!
Thinking about going to Columbus with the cruise. Any advice from you that have done that trip? Also thinking of maybe heading out west instead for a little middle age crazy time to myself. Daryle (40), you going to be home one evening that week?

Lance,  We are going to be there on Saturday and hopefully with Chads T bucket, had some last minute problems with it last wekend and didn't get it to Onawa but we have the problems solved I think and hopefully it will be there.  We have to be back home for our parade and celebration in Dunlap on Sunday and help with the fireworks display that night, we have around 800 shots to fire off. We do it manually and have 3,4,5,and 6 inch shells, should make for a nice display.  If ya come this way to see Daryle swing by on your way, I'm not that far from his place and you're always welcome here.  Usually at Des Moines we meet in the air conditioned building with all the venders either by the GG give away booth or by Yogis booth. Maybe some of the others will chime in on a place to meet.  Catch ya later!!  Bill

 Bill, I think we will bring the car up to Dunlap on Sunday as well. Dennis McGinn was going to bring his Roadrunner to Dunlap as well.

Mike,   that would be cool, they are having a small classic/hotrod and old tractor display on one of the streets by the park.  Last year it was on the street between the swimming pool and the Lutheran Church and I don't thing there was any entry fee.  See ya at both shows      Bill

Bill, I just might be going through there.  30 and 37 intersection, right? Where and when is the fireworks show, and how many hour drive to Dunlap from Des Moines fairgrounds? Looks like maybe 2 1/2? I would probably head north on I-29 after the fireworks show.

Another thing you could do as long as your in the general area of 40's place is to head further west to the Black Hills Rod Run in Hill City SD.  Thats on Friday, Sat and Sun morning (July 9,10,11) .  Saturday  they do a cruise through the beautiful Black Hills.  The year I went they had two groups of about 75 cars each and the cruise took just about the whole day.  We were escorted by police and sheriffs who stopped cross traffic for us at every intersection.  Really a relaxing and good cruise.  They have a web site with info.  I don't have the URL handy but just do a search and you'll find it.  We're planning to go out there that week but I don't know if I will be able to take the '37.  We're taking the Motorhome and pulling the SUV so we can go out on some fire trails, etc. and I haven't got my wife convinced to follow me out there driving the '37.  I still have two weeks to work on it though.

Lance,We'll be home that entire week...You are more than welcome to stay with us any night or the whole week for that matter!I will definately be in Des Moines...thought I'd be staying with my cousin in his new house but it doesn't look like it'll be finished by then...I'd sure like the # of the motel you're staying at...looks like I will  need a room I would like to do the Cruise to Columbus but I have to allow a little time for work this summer...starvation doesn't sound like much fun...I need to finish this house before I head off to Louiseville!Would love to have you stop by if it works out for you!Plan to arrive in Des Moines late Thursday evening and stay thru Sunday afternoon....Hope to see every one there

Daryle, I talked to Bill the other night on the phone. I'm going to the Fourth of July fireworks show in Dunlap, then over to the super 8 in Onawa. Thanks for the invite, but I don't think I will drive the coupe very far after dark, my luck, I'll catch a semi tire tread with the grill. I will however, stop by Monday for a couple hours to see your operation and visit before I head out west to parts unknown.

My wife, kiddo, and I are planning on making the trip from St. Louis on Friday.  If all goes well we will be spectating on Sat.  This will be a non working weekend for me so I could actually meet up with a few of you guys and gals this time and enjoy the show for once.
