Last weekend I spent all the two days changing my mind

I figured the 3 way bonnet hinge from finks was just too hard to integrate with the alloy bonnet
So I brought home a keyboard stand from work which was roughly the right size of tube I cut it up and made brackets out of stainless to bridge the gap between the firewall and the radiator and decided to use the original fibreglass bonnet instead well it took me all of the two days to get it all set up and I was planning on using a few dsus fasteners to hold the bonnet on then I figured no I will just whip up some hinges how hard can it be ...

Anyway fast forward to today I spent the morning fine tuning the fibreglass bonnet ( hood) then if figured I already have the dan fink hinges set how hard can it be I mean Americans can do it :-)

So another whole day and I have the rear brackets finished sort of, they need prettying yet and some holes for the button heads to attach them to the alloy bars that go from the firewall to the grille
I may cut some holes in them to get a bit carryed away  all the bolts are hidden I welded an extra layer in behind to tig the bolts too so you can't see them

picture shows last weeks brackets and this weeks . last weeks was quite complicated as it actually bolted to the firewall with hidden bolts lucky I didn't drill the holes

Not sure I understand exactly what you have done both times around.  I do know, from following your work here, that the final result will be as near to perfect as a man obsessed by details and workmanship can make it.  Your stuff is incredible.

heres some more pictures to make it easy to see what I did

I still have to polish them all and I am undecided wether to cut some holes in them to make them look more trick

completed the front end of one side this morning before we go off to watch the Targa I am thinking of a stainless strip from top to bottom in that flange that bolts the grill shell on and have some csk bolts that way I can oversize the bolt holes in the grill shell to enable some movement and shimming

give it a bit more bling ( like it needs it )

also looking for some small ford enamal badges I think I can mill out the oval on the rear brackets and glue them in flush

In my continuing battle with this dan fink 3 way bonnet kit I am up to fitting the activating rods when I came across a snag the rubber grommet they supply won't even look at my 6mm thick fibreglass  firewall

So I have made up this little gizmo to hold the grommet and to tidy up the whole arrangement

Scrap bit of stainless an hour, a drill, a file and a lot of swearing now I just have to make the other side the same

This will also allow me to oversize the hole and adjust it later

You could do the same thing with panel steel and paint it

I have finished the pull release on one side it is a bit stiff and needs some tweaking but I am loath to bend the pull rods as unbending them will be a nightmare if I get it wrong

Make a mockup rod out of mild steel, bend it until it's right, then duplicate it in stainless.
